AGENDA
ACTION TAKEN
Commissioner Real shared tips for ways to live longer and shared some articles from the OC
Register. He is concerned about how to get the information to seniors, especially ones who do not
have access to the internet. Brian Chwan noted that the topic of Blue Zones and living longer has
been more in the forefront lately and he agreed it would be good to discuss ways to get information
out. Chair Brown noted the commission wants more communication with seniors; however, she
doesn't feel a subcommittee is necessary. She asked Brian to discuss with the Communications
people at the City about putting together a brochure of information. Maureen noted there is a
section included in the Activity Guide and there are other city publications that could include
information for older adults.
c. Senior Center Signage — Maureen Richardson reported that one of the signs is currently being
manufactured; she doesn't have the exact installation date.
d. Chair Brown asked for an update on the presentation by Office on Aging. Maureen stated they are
looking for space for his presentation. Chair Brown asked everyone to put August 10t" on their
calendars for a caregiver resource fair at the Downtown Anaheim Community Center.
e. Commissioner Baltazar reported that she read that the City of Loma Linda is thinking about bringing
fast food restaurants back in the city because of the loss of revenue they've suffered due to their
efforts to be a Blue Zone.
Chair Brown mentioned that Store One will be opening soon and she would like to see the
commission take a tour of the facility.
g. Commissioner Brio is happy to report that the website is up to date and thanked the staff who
worked on that. The next step is the Spanish translations. He also was wondering about
attendance at the facilities with the new part-time staff. Maureen reported the numbers and stated
that they are increasing as they are building relationships.
ADJOURNMENT: Chair Brown adjourned the meeting at 2:36 p.m.
NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
