Library 2025/01/13ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING MINUTES MEETING LOCATION Central Library 500 w. Broadway Anaheim, CA 92805 DATE/TIME January 13, 2025 4:30 p.m. CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted on January 9, 2025; the regular meeting of the Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Linda Newby at 4:34 p.m. PRESENT: Rose Chen, Michelle Dang, Jackie Filbeck, Linda Newby, Elia Renteria-Garcia STAFF: Nissa Perez -Montoya — Supervising Librarian, Jennifer Foxx — Management Assistant II I. INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends thanked the library staff for their help last year. The December sale made $296.94, the next sale is January 17, 2025. They are looking forward to participating in the Winter Reading Program. The Friends thanked Audrey Lujan and Jennifer Foxx for their assistance with the Friends 2025 budget. B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: Their first flash sale of the year is January 7-8, 2025. The members find it rewarding to provide assistance to the Canyon Hills Library and be involved in such a worthy cause. C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: None. D. COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 9, 2024, MEETING: The minutes were approved as presented. III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None. IV. NEW BUSINESS: A. WINTER READING PROGRAM 2025 — NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH ANAHEIM DUCKS: Nissa Perez -Montoya shared that the Anaheim Ducks are sponsoring the Winter Reading Program — "We Break the Ice," from January 13 — February 23, 2025. The Ducks are providing supplies, prizes, and a limited edition library card featuring Wild Wing. V. INFORMATION A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: The City Council Recognition for the winners of the Creative Writing Project is January 14, 2025. B. BUDGET: Planning for the 2025/26 Fiscal Year budget has begun. Linda expressed her appreciation for the money that the TOT brings to the City's budget. Anaheim Public Library Board Meeting January 13, 2025 Page 2 VI. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. STATISTICS: None. B. ACTIVITY REPORTS: None. C. MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: Michelle thanked the library for having an amazing collection of books. Elia recognized Jennifer Foxx for her support to the Library Board. VII. BOARD ITEMS MEMBER ELIA RENTERIA-GARCIA: None. MEMBER JACKIE FILBECK: None. MEMBER MICHELLE DANG: Noted that a web -based search of Central Library listed the incorrect hours. VICE CHAIR ROSE CHEN: Recommended the exterior of the Haskett Branch Library be cleaned and requested information on the progress of the Haskett Branch Library Makerspace. CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Enjoyed the pruning roses class at the library taught by Master Gardener Victoria Michaels. VIII. MISCELLANEOUS A. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be February 10, 2025, at the Central Library. B. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Newby adjourned the meeting at 4:58 p.m.
