A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROPRIATING CERTAIN FUNDS
FOR ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM: AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH THE
ANAHEIM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE DOING
OF SAID ADVERTISING; AND PROVIDING Fn" COM-
PENSATION TO THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR
SERVICES TO BE RENDERED TO THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
Finance
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, located
within the City of Anaheim, has special knowledge, experience
and facilities for promotion and advertising work; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be
for the best interest and welfare of the City of Anaheim and
the citizens thereof to appropriate funds for the promotion and
advertising of the City of Anaheim for the purpose of inducing
the immigration of industry, business and persons to said City;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a great deal
of work is required to be done in the development and expansion
of industry and that the Chamber of Commerce of the City of Ana-
heim is peculiarly fitted and equipped to perform such work and
render such services, and that it would be to the advantage and
best interest of the City of Anaheim to employ the Chamber of
Commerce to render said services and to aid'in the promotion,
advertising and expansion of industry in the City of Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that certain sums of money to aid in the
promotion, advertising and expansion of the City of Anaheim be
appropriated and set aside for the following purposes, and in
the following amounts, to be expended during the period com-
mencing July 1, 1960, and ending June 30, 1961:
(1) For the printing and distribution of maps,
pamphlets, brochures and other printed materials,
the collection and dissemination of factual data,
information and statistics concerning the City,
performance of public relations work on behalf
of the City, and production of publicity and
advertising in promotion of the City's economic
growth and community relations program, including
not more than two (2) floats to be entered in
parades in cities which'reciprocate with floats
in the City's Halloween Parade, the total cost
of both of said two floats not to exceed five
hundred dollars ($500.00), the sum of 9,000.00
(2) For the development and expansion of Visi-
tors and Convention Bureau activities, solici-
tation of conventions, servicing conventions,
performance of special services for visitors,
and production of institutional advertising to
develop and encourage conventions and visitors
to the City, the sum of 5,000.00
(3) For administration and office expenses
incurred in connection with items 1 and 2
above, for the performance of services in the

development and expansion of industry in the
City, and for other services requested by the
City, the sum of 6,000.00
TOTAL 20, 000.00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anaheim Chamber of
Commerce be, and it is hereby, employed for the following pur-
poses and to render the following services:
(1) Print and distribute maps, pamphlets, bro-
chures and other printed materials, collect
and disseminate factual data, information
and statistics concerning the City, perform
public relations work on behalf of the City,
and produce publicity and advertising in
promotion of the City's economic growth and
community relations program, including not
more than two (2) floats to be entered in
parades in cities which reciprocate with
floats in the City's Halloween Parade.
(2) Develop and expand Visitors and Convention
Bureau activities, solicit conventions,
service conventions, perform special ser-
vices for visitors, and produce institutional
advertising to develop and encourage conven-
tions and visitors to the City.
(3) Perform services to develop and expand in-
dustry in the City and perform other services
requested by the City.
All services to be rendered shall be at the
direction of the City of Anaheim, and all
maps, pamphlets, brochures and other printed
material shall be submitted tc and approved
by the City Manager of the City of Anaheim
before printing or distribution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the funds hereinabove
appropriated and set aside shall be paid out upon demands and
shall be supported by a statement of said Anaheim Chamber of
Commerce showing the amount of liability incurred as the basis
of said claim. That said demands shall be presented monthly to
the City Council. Any expenses in addition to said amounts set
forth herein shall be paid by said Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and thP
City Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to
enter into a written agreement with the Anaheim Chamber of Com-
merce, a copy of which agreement, to be made and entered into
as of the 1st day of July, 1960, and for the term July 1, 1960,
to June 30, 1961, both dates inclusive, and from month to
montl thereafter until terminated by either party, has this
day been submitted to the; City Council, and which agreement is,
by reference, made a part hereof as fully as if set out in full
herein.
