Movi ng forward wi th Veteran Cemetery
We're proud to be moving forward on a hallowed re sting place for our
v ete rans in the hills of east Anaheim.
In March, an Orange County Supe rior Court judge ruled in favor of our
project, se tting aside an unnece ssary and unwarrante d le gal
challenge to the Gy psum Canyon Ce me tery Proje ct.
While our work never stopped, we we lcome the certainty this action
brings for our veterans, their families and our city.
A v ete ran ce me tery for Orange County has been long ov e rdue .
Anaheim is honored to provide a final re sting place for those who
se lflessly serve d our country.
This v ete ran site will also offe r families a special place for families to
remember their loved ones.
We are unwav ering in our commitment to v ete rans, and, with this
decision, continuing our path forward with the help of our county, state and
other supporters.
91 Improvement Proj ect
Last month we launched safety measure s at and around Cany on High
School at Imperial Highway and Avenida Bernardo.
Traffic lights now allow vehicles and kids through the area in cycles to
bette r the safe ty of those walking and driving.
All of this is to ensure safety for stude nts as they ’re le av ing school.
The traffic light changes are only from 1:10-1:45 p.m . and 3:25-3:45 p.m.
on school days, when students are leaving.
Outside the se hours, the signals operate as they alw ay s hav e .
At time s, ve hicle traffic is brie fly halte d to allow kids to cross Imperial
toward Bernardo.
V ehicles are allowe d to flow out of Cany on’s parking lot onto Imperial
(with north-south Imperial traffic briefly halted).
Once students cross, traffic on Imperial resume s in all dire ctions.
The changes are the result of our city’s e ffort to look at traffic safe ty
conce rns at Canyon and as part of our ongoing work to make our school
routes safer.
91 Improvement Proj ect
We ce le brated the start of bringing real change to all who rely on the
91 through e astern Anahe im.
The 91 Improve me nt Proje ct will improve a fiv e-mile stre tch from the
57 to the 55 fre eways by adding lanes, bridges and other upgrades for
commuters.
Anyone who’s tried to weave through me rging 55 traffic just to e x it at
Lakev ie w knows the struggle is real!
This proje ct will also improve acce ss to Angel Stadium of Anaheim,
Honda Center, OCVibe, Anaheim Canyon and surrounding neighborhoods,
creating better connections across Anaheim.
While the road ahead will hav e its challe nges and im pacts, we’re
committed to making trav el smoothe r and more efficie nt for the
future.
Think of this project as a vital link, paving the way for a more connected,
e asie r commute in the ye ars to come.
Thanks to our partners at OCTA and Caltrans for investing in the future
of our city.
Basebal l for Al l
We marked the grand re opening of the Big A Ballpark at Pione e r Park,
a field that makes base ball accessible to all.
We gathered to play at the newly restored field with the athle te s of the
Challe nger and Miracle le agues, Angels great Jim Abbott, up and
coming outfielder Ky re n Paris and many others.
It was a day of inspiring baseball for everyone.
There is no holding anyone back from the crack of the bat to the thrill of
running the bases at this field, which is open to all, no m atte r y our
ability .
Thanks to Angels Baseball, the Angels Baseball Foundation, EVA Air and
Anaheim Community Services for making this possible.
