AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: Senior Secretary, Kamila Rodriguez, called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Kamila Rodriguez led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
5. NEW BUSINESS: (Taken out of order)
a) Selection of Vice Chair: Nominations for Vice Chair were made: Commissioner Cook nominated
Commissioner Martin. Commissioner Martin received five votes in favor; Commissioner Martin will be the
new Vice Chair.
6. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Vice Chair Martin presented the January 22, 2025 Minutes to the
Commissioners for changes or corrections. Commissioner Martin made a motion to accept the minutes,
seconded by Commissioner Couture. The motion was approved with 5 votes in favor; Vice Chair Martin accepted
the minutes.
REPORTS:
a) Park Ranger Report — January: Anaheim Sporn presented the report and noted that the number of public
contacts has decreased in comparison to January of 2024. She explained that the newest Coordinator for the
program found some inaccuracies in previous reporting methods which may have led to over -inflated values.
Anaheim highlighted a higher value of skateboarding occurrences which is likely due to the addition of the
skate park at Center Greens.
Questions were answered regarding data for the Logan Wells Skate Park and curfew occurrences at Twila
Reid, John Marshall, and Maxwell Park.
b) Recreation, Human & Neighborhood Services Activity Report — December/January: Anaheim Sporn
presented the report and highlighted the success of the Nutcracker Holiday Craft Village and Tree Lighting
event which took place on Center Street Promenade and on the steps of City Hall on December 8th. She
also shared an update on youth programs, highlighting a recent partnership with the Anaheim Elementary
School District, where Community Services staff now offer on -site afterschool programs to students at

Barton, Edison, John Marshall, Juarez, and Ponderosa elementary schools. Finally, she emphasized the
Lunar New Year celebrations in the Active Older Adults section, along with the annual Adopt -a -Family
Project, which supported 101 families, 252 children, and 191 adults this year.
c) Parks Capital Project Progress Report: Ana Straabe presented the report and provided an update on the
Maxwell Park KABOOM! project which, in collaboration with the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, will replace the
existing 19-year-old play area at Maxwell Park. She then announced the ribbon -cutting ceremony to
celebrate the completion of the La Palma Park Promenade project on April 22, 2025. Lastly, Ana provided a
brief overview of the draft designs for OCVI BE's Meadow Park, and explained that the final master plan will
require future approval from the Parks & Recreation Commission.
Questions were answered regarding the funding source for Meadow Park, the timeline for the River Park
project, the jurisdiction of the Meadow Park property, and the name of Meadow Park.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: In honor of the facility's tenth anniversary in the year 2025, Anaheim Sporn
highlighted the history of the Miraloma Family Resource Center and JJ Jimenez explained the design process
and the considerations behind selecting the center's amenities.
Commissioner Bill Couture shared his experience of visiting parks within District 1 and thanked staff and
commissioners for their efforts in maintaining these spaces.
