A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN AGREE-
MENT TO BE MADE AND ENTERED INTO BY AND
BETWEEN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AND. ANAHEIM SYMPHONY
ASSOCIATION FOR THE FURNISHING OF A PROGRAM OF
MUSIC TO THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY BY SAID
ASSOCIATION, AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is authorized by Section
37110 of the Government Code of the State of California to ex-
pend money for music and promotion; and
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Symphony Association is a non-
profit organization, organized and existing for the purpose of
fostering and developing music as a part of the cultural life
of the community; and
WHEREAS, said Anaheim Symphony Association has the
facilities, experience, and special knowledge for providing a
program of music to the citizens of the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that an agreement be made and entered into
by and between the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Symphony As-
sociation as of the 1st day of November, 1960, for the furnish-
ing to the citizens of the City of Anaheim by said Association
of a program of music, upon the following terms and conditions:
1. That the Anaheim Symphony Association shall:
(a) Provide a general music program within the City
of Anaheim consisting of not less than seven (7)
separate programs of which not less than two (2)
of such programs shall be open to the general
public without charge for such program and the
remaining five (5) programs shall be presented
at a reasonable charge. Said two (2) free pro-
grams to be presented at the Greek Theater in
Pearson Park in the City of Anaheim or at such
other public place in said City as may be ap-
proved by the City Council.
(b) Agree that all advertising matter in connection
with the two (2) free public music programs shall
acknowledge the sponsorship of the City and shall
be conducted in such manner as to promote the
public relations of the City.
(c) Promote youth participation in the field of music
by conducting activities which recognize youth
achievements in the music field and encourage
youth to strive for further proficiency and ex-
cellence.
(d) Agree that during the term said idsag em

admittance to music programs shall not be restricted,

Agree that an expense budget will be presented to
the City Council of the City showing the proposed
expenditures of all moneys of the Association dur-
ing the term of said agreement, including funds
provided by the City, and all expenditure of funds
shall be in substantial conformity with said budget.
No expenditure of funds for any item not set forth
in said budget shall be made until a revised budget
has been presented to and approved by the City
Council of the City.
2. That in consideration of the service to the City by the
Association in furnishing a program of music to the
citizens of said City and agreements heretofore set
forth to be performed by said Association, the City
shall agree to pay the sum of $5,000.00 to the Associa-
tion upon presentation and approval of itemized demands
for expenses actually incurred by the Association as
follows:
but shall be open to all members of the public
on payment of membership or admittance fees,
provided that this provision shall not prohibit
any differentiation in payment schedules between
children and adults.
(a) The Association shall present to the City itemized
demands for amounts incurred for expenses as shown
on the approved budget.
(b) The City Manager shall check the demands to deter-
mine whether the items have been incurred for
expenses as shown on the approved budget and
shall recommend approval or disapproval of said
demands.
(c) The demands together with the City Manager's re-
commendation of approval or disapproval shall be
presented to the City Council for final approval
or disapproval.
3. The term of this agreement shall be for a period of
one (1) year from the 1st day of November, 1960, through
the 31st day of October, 1961, and all agreements of
said Association shall be performed within said period.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk
be, and they are hereby, authorized to execute said agreement for
and on behalf of the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 21st day of February, 1961.
