Subject:[EXTERNAL] Should Congress feed seniors?

Dear neighbor,
Each month, more than 22,000 seniors in Orange County depend on federa lly funded nutrition
programs to get their meals. I’ve long supported the Commodity Supplement al Food Program,
which brings nutritious, high quality meals directly to seniors’ doorsteps. I urged my fellow Members
of Congress to continue funding this program that is a lifeline to seniors nationwide. From
supporting SNAP and Medicaid to advocating for Medicare, I have always pushed Congress to fund
programs that take care of our neighbors.
I am proud to have fought to support our nation’s seniors. As we consider t his topic in Congress, I
want to hear from you.
I WANT YOUR OPINION:
Should Congress ensure our seniors are fed?
Yes
No

Dear Neighbor,
This week, I came to Washington, D.C. with a charge to stand up for the members of our community
who keep us all safe. I joined my colleagues in welcoming police squads from across the country in
honor of National Police Week. I also pressed DHS Secretary Kristi Noem on the Administration’s
unjust deportations of American Citizens. From improving job opportunit ies for families on Main
Street to studying breakthrough therapies for our veterans to pushing for immigration reform, I’m
committed to bringing results back home to Main Street. I continue to bring your voice to the halls of
Congress. I'd like to show you what I’ve been working on.
HONORING PUBLIC SAFET Y OFFICE RS
This week, members of the Anaheim and Santa Ana Police Forces joined me in Washington to
celebrate National Police Week. Every year, National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer
support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those
who gave their lives in the line of duty to keep us safe. I was proud to highlight Santa Ana Police Chief
Robert Rodriguez, a Marine who has dedicated his life to protecting our communities. Chief Rodriguez
arrived in the United States at age four—undocumented—and has spent his career keeping us all safe.

PROT E CT ING OUR HOME LAND
As the top Democrat on the House Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement, it’s important
that I hold thisAdministration accountable for violating immigration law or the Constitution. At a
House Committee on Homeland Security hearing this week, I pressed Kristi Noem about the
Administration’s recent deportation of American citizens. Not only is it immoral to strip children aw ay
from their families, it is downright illegal to deport American citizens. Any American who is forcefully
taken from our country is unacceptable. I am proud to represent a district made up of immigrants
from all over the world and I am committed to doing everything I can to ensure you can stay with your
families and communities.

G E T T ING VE TERANS T HE CARE T HE Y NE E D
I was happy to join my colleague, Representative General Jack Bergman, at t he Psychedelic Medicine
Coalition to discuss ways the federal government can better support our vet erans. When veterans
return home from the battlefield, we have a moral responsibility to help t hem recover from any
wounds they may have incurred. Psychedelic medicine offers a potentially life-saving treatment for
PTSD and other invisible wounds gained on the battlefield. By funding and promoting regulated
research into psychedelic medicine, we can open up more doors for our vet erans to get better. Last
month, I introduced the Innovative Therapies Centers of Excellence Act, which would increase federally
funded research on innovative therapies to treat Veterans experiencing conditions like PTSD,
substance use disorder, and depression.

Subject:[EXTERNAL] Should Congress Protect Immigrant Veterans?
Warning: This email originated from outside the City of Anaheim. Do not click links or open attachments unless you

Dear neighbor,
I believe that veterans should be treated with dignity and respect. This includes immigrant
veterans, who fought for our country in uniform, pledged allegiance to our nat ion, and were
honorably discharged, and now, some face deportation orders. I am commit ted to doing everything I
can to give them the respect and support they deserve. Last month, I proposed an amendment to
stand by immigrant veterans. This amendment would require ICE to consider t he contributions of
veterans who had been honorably discharged before issuing deportation orders against them.
I am committed to helping veterans live in the country they risked the ir lives to protect. As w e
address this bipartisan effort in Congress, I want your opinion.
I WANT YOUR OPINION:
Should Congress help immigrant veterans stay in the
U.S.?
