1961-7328RESOLUTION NO. 7328 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN ACCESS ROADS AS "EXTRA WORK" UNDER THE EXISTING CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF RESERVOIR NO. 1. Finance Dir Engr WHEREAS, on or about the 10th day of March, 1961, the City Council of the City of Anaheim did award a contract to Weardco Construction Corp. for the construction of Reservoir No. 1, including certain access roads in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, on or about the 22nd day of August, 1960, Santiago Land Co. entered into an agreement with the City of Anaheim under and by virtue the terms of which Santiago Land Co. agreed to share in the cost of construction of certain roads designated on Exhibit "A" attached to said agreement as Parcel IV; in said agreement the City of Anaheim agreed to bear the cost of the access road to the east side of Reservoir No. 1 and the cost of the access road to Reservoir No. 2, the former being shown as a portion of Parcel IV and the latter as Parcel V on said Exhibit "A and WHEREAS, said roads referred to in said agreement of August 22, 1960, had not been sufficiently delineated to be included in the contract agreement with Weardco Construction Corp.; and WHEREAS, said roads have now been sufficiently delineated to begin construction thereon, and Weardco Construction Corp. is now prepared to begin work on said roads and has offered to accomplish the same at the identical unit price per cubic yard as the same was included for grading of roads in the basic contract of March 10, 1961; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the additional work to be accomplished to install the roads above referred to amounts to approximately 50,000 cubic yards as compared to 550,000 cubic yards of excavation performed under the contract of March 10, 1961; and WHEREAS, the City Council further finds that it is to the advantage of the City of Anaheim to authorize such work as extra work" under the contract of March 10, 1961, and further that no advantage will be gained by submitting such extra work to publicly advertised bids; and WHEREAS, to submit such extra work to publicly advertised bids would not only be more costly to the City of Anaheim but would materially delay the completion of the Reservoir Project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the additional access roads be excavated and graded by Weardco Construction Corp. as "extra work" under its contract of March 10, 1961, at a unit cost of 53 cents per cubic yard, said cost being identical to the cost for the excavation and grading of access roads under said contract of March 10, 1961. -1- AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that proper change orders be executed to accomplish the foregoing extra work.
