1961-7244A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE
AND ACQUISITION OF THE LAW LIBRARY,
FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT OF PRESTON TURNER.
WHEREAS, heretofore, to wit, on the 4th day of
April, 1961, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 6791
employing Preston Turner full time as City Attorney for
the City of Anaheim and authorizing the acquisition of his
law library, office furniture and equipment; and
WHEREAS, said resolution did provide that said
law library, office furniture, equipment and facilities
of Preston Turner be acquired upon terms to be agreed upon
after an inventory thereof had been furnished to the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has obtained and furnished
to the City Council an inventory thereof and has submitted
to the City Council a recommendation as to the fair value
of said library, furniture, equipment and facilities, to wit,
the sum of 9,000.00 and
WHEREAS, Preston Turner has offered to sell said
library, furniture, equipment and facilities to the City
for said sum; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City has
had the full use and benefit of said library since April 1,
1961, and should assume and pay the maintenance costs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the offer of said Preston Turner
to sell and transfer to the City his law library, furniture,
equipment and facilities as more particularly listed and
set forth on the inventory hereto attached and made a part
hereof, for the sum of 9,000.00 be and the same
is hereby accepted.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Finance
Director be, and she is hereby, authorized and directed to
pay to Preston Turner the sum of 9,000.00 upon
delivery to the City of a bill of sale conveying and trans-
ferring to the City said law library, furniture, equipment
and facilities listed on the inventory hereto attached.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in further con-
sideration that the Miles Recorder, Serial No. 2926, now
owned by the City of Anaheim be exchanged for Stenorette
No. 39312 owned by the said Preston Turner.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City pay all
maintenance and upkeep costs on said library from and
after April 1, 1961.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed
by me this 3rd day of Octob 961.
