A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM URGING THE CONTINUED EFFORTS
OF THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION TO COMPEL
INSTALLATION OF WATER METERS IN ORANGE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
recognizes that adequate water is essential to the continued
growth and to the continued existence of the metropolitan
areas of Southern California and of Orange County;and
WHEREAS, the underground water basin for Orange
County is a prime water source for Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the maintenance of the water tables of
the underground basin require the importation of water to
Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the rapidly increasing population and
industrial development of Orange County and the City of
Anaheim add an everincreasing load and demand upon the
water sources of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, it is essential to the preservation of
the water sources of Orange County that all efforts for
water conservation be utilized to the highest extent; and
WHEREAS, analysis by the Orange County Water
District and other qualified sources indicate that indivi-
dual users of water, where no meter is used to compute
water rates in accordance with use, are prime offenders
in the wasteful use of water in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Commission has
ordered all non metered water distributing utilities
within the Orange County Water District area to install
water meters on all service connections within certain
specified times and at certain specified rates of
installation; and
WHEREAS, the Supreme Court of the State of
California ruled that such order of the Public Utilities
Commission was a proper order;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council of the City of Anaheim. does urge and request the
Public Utilities Commission of the State of California to
immediately take all steps necessary to effect compliance
with its order to install water meters on all service con-
nections and to continue in its efforts to conserve water
in California, and Southern California in particular, by
requiring meter connections wherever appropriate, and to
use all necessary means to implement such orders.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this
resolution be forwarded to all City Councils within the
areas of Orange County Water District, to Senator John A.
Murdy, Jr., and Assemblymen Bruce Sumner and Richard T.
Hanna, and to the Public Utilities Commission of the
State of California.

NOES: COUNCILMEN: None.
AND I FURTHER CERTIFY that the Mayor of the City
of Anaheim approved and signed said Resolution No. 7219
on the 26th day of September, 1961.
