Dear Members of the Anaheim City Council,
I am writing as a concerned resident to express deep anxiety over recent immigration enforcement activity taking place in and around our
community. The reports of increased ICE raids have caused widespread fear and distress, especially among our immigrant families, many of whom
have long been integral to Anaheim’s social, cultural, and economic fabric.
This heightened presence of immigration enforcement has not only disrupted daily life but has also created an environment of mistrust and fear.
Many families are scared to go to work, run errands, or seek medical care. These actions are leaving families paralyzed by uncertainty and forcing
many to retreat from public life, regardless of their immigration status.
As a city that prides itself on diversity, inclusion, and community strength, I urge you to take a clear and public stand to protect the well-being of all
Anaheim residents. I respectfully request the following:
That the City Council reaffirm Anaheim’s commitment to being a welcoming and safe city for all people, regardless of immigration status.
That community members be informed of their rights and create an alert system, similar to those posted on Anaheim's social media accounts
That you work with local organizations to create resources and safe spaces for families impacted by immigration enforcement.
That Anaheim’s police department continues to maintain a clear separation from federal immigration enforcement unless legally mandated.
We need leadership that prioritizes public safety, trust, and human dignity. Our immigrant neighbors deserve to feel safe in their own city
without fear of being separated from their families or targeted unjustly.
Thank you for reviewing this urgent matter. I hope to see Anaheim continue to lead with compassion and justice.
With gratitude,
Vanessa
