A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A PROPOSED FREEWAY AGREE-
MENT WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, RELATING
TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE FREEWAY, STATE
ROUTE VII -ORA -175, MORE PARTICULARLY HERE-
INAFTER DESCRIBED.
WHEREAS, the California Highway Commission did on
January 15, 1952, pass a resolution declaring that portion of
Route 175 in the County of Orange between 0.4 mile east of
Raymond Avenue and Route 43 at West Peralta Hills Drive to
be a freeway, and on December 16, 1953, did pass a resolution
declaring that portion of Route 175 in the Cities of Anaheim
and Fullerton and the County of Orange between Route 174. and
Route 180 to be a freeway, and in the same action did rescind
a portion of the resolution passed January 15, 1952, as it
pertained to that portion of Route 175 between 0.4.mile east of
Raymond Avenue and Route 180, and on June 23, 1954, did pass
a resolution declaring that portion of Route 175 in the Cities
of Buena Park and Anaheim and Counties of Los Angdes and Orange
between Palo Verde Avenue and Route 174. to be a freeway; and
WHEREAS, the State of California and the City of
Anaheim have heretofore entered into a freeway agreement
dated March 22, 1955, covering the Route 175 Freeway, Road VII
Ora- 175 -Ana, between the westerly city limit near Dale Street
and the easterly city limit near Acacia Street except portions
in the City of Fullerton and the County of Orange; and
WHEREAS, the State of California and the County of
Orange entered into Freeway Agreements dated August 30, 1955,
and November 25, 1958, covering portions of the Riverside
Freeway (State Route 175) in the unincorporated area between
the Anaheim City Limit at the Southern Pacific Railroad and
State Route 43; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to the execution of the afore-
mentioned Freeway Agreements dated March 22, 1955, and
August 30, 1955, the City of Anaheim annexed certain areas of
the County encompassing portions of the Riverside Freeway
(State Route 175 and
WHEREAS, subsequent to entering into said Freeway
Agreement dated March 22, 1955, the State of California and the
City of Anaheim have mutually agreed to certain revisions of
plan; and
WHEREAS, a plan map for such freeway has heretofore
been prepared showing the proposed plan of the State as it
affects streets of the City, including provisions for closing
City streets, for carrying City streets over or under or to a
connection with such freeway, for relocation of City streets,
and for construction of frontage roads and other local roads;

WHEREAS, it is the mutual desire of the State of
California and the City of Anaheim to enter into a new freeway
agreement in accordance with the revised plan of said freeway;
and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Public
Works, Division of Highways, has submitted a new freeway agreement
to the City of Anaheim to be made and entered into by and between
the City and the State of California, Department of Public Works,
in accordance with the revised plan of said freeway, all as shown
on the plan map attached to said agreement and marked "Exhibit B
and
WHEREAS, due to the extreme pressure of rapidly
increasing traffic burdens and to alleviate a critical and
dangerous condition now existing on the easterly portion of
said freeway, the City Council of the City of Anaheim finds
that it would be for the benefit and best interest of the City
and the traveling public to enter into said new agreement with
the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim finds
that in the foreszeable future traffic demands of the industrial
area over which said freeway traverses will of necessity require
additional points of ingress and egress.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the new freeway agreement this day
submitted to the City Council by the State of California,
Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, to be made
and entered into by and between the State of California and the
City of Anaheim, relating to certain construction and changes
affecting City streets to be made by the State in the
construction of those portions of the freeway, State Highway
Route VIII- Ora -175 -Ana, more particularly hereinafter described
and as shown on a plan map attached to said agreement, marked
"Exhibit B," the terms and conditions of which agreement are
hereinafter set forth be, and the same is hereby, approved.
That the terms and conditions of said freeway agreement
are as follows:
1. That said agreement supersedes in its entirety
the freeway agreement between the State and the
City of Anaheim dated March 22, 1955, between
the following described limits; westerly
city limit near Dale Street and easterly city
limit near Acacia Street except portions in the
City of Fullerton and County of Orange, and
supersedes those portions of the freeway agree-
ments between the State and the County of Orange
dated August 30, 1955, and November 25, 195
within the present city limits of the City of
Anaheim.
2. That the City agrees and consents to the closing
of city streets, relocation of city streets,
construction of frontage roads and other local
roads, and other construction affecting city
streets, all as shown on the plan map attached
to said agreementmsrked "Exhibit B" between
the westerly city limit near Dale Street and
the easterly city limit near Jefferson Street,
and made a part hereof by reference.
3. That the State in the construction of said
freeway will, at the State =s expense, make
such changes affecting city streets in accord-
ance with the said plan map attached to said
agreement or as the same may hereafter be
modified by subsequent agreement between the
State and the City.
L1. That the State agrees to acquire all necessary
right of way as may be required for construction
of frontage roads and other local roads, and
the construction, reconstruction or alteration
of city streets, and the City authorizes the
State to acquire in its behalf all such
necessary right of way.
5. That the City will accept control and main-
tenance over each of the relocated or reconstructed
city streets, and the frontage roads and other
State constructed local roads on notice to the
City Engineer from the State that the work thereon
has been completed, except as to any portion
thereof which is adopted by the State as a part
of the freeway proper. The City will also accept
title to the portions of such roads lying outside
the freeway limits, upon relinquishment by the State.
6. That the grade separations shown on plan map
"Exhibit B" will either be underpasses or wrap-
passes as detailed engineering studies may
determine will best fit the locality. That it
shall be understood between the City and State
that the right of way may be acquired in sections
or units and that, both as to the acquisition of
right of way and the construction of the freeway
projects, the obligations of State shall be
carried out at such time and for such unit or
units of the project as funds are budgeted and
made lawfully available for such expenditures.
7. That said agreement may be modified at any time
by the mutual consent of the State and the City
as may become necessary for the best accomplish-
ment through City and State co- operation of the
whole freeway project for the benefit of the
people of the State and of the City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk
be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to execute said
freeway agreement hereinabove mentioned for and on behalf of the
City of Anaheim.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Anaheim
urge and it does hereby urge and request early and serious
consideration by the State of California, Department of Public
Works, Division of Highways, of planning studies and investigation
to the end that additional access to said freeway be designated
and established at appropriate locations to cope with and
anticipate future traffic problems which, in the opinion of the
City of Anaheim, will become critical.

THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 19th day of June, 1962.
