A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE JOINT INSTALLATION
OF FLASHING LIGHT SIGNALS AT CERRITOS AVENUE
CROSSING NO. BK- 511.8, ANAHEIM: PROVIDING FOR
THE PAYMENT OF A PORTION OF THE COST THEREOF
BY THE CITY: AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH SOUTHERN.
PACIFIC ODMPANY.
WHEREAS, Southern Pacific Company and the City of
Anaheim desire to enter into an agreement for the construction
and installation of said flashing light signals, and to provide
for the maintenance functions that are to be performed by the
Southern Pacific Company and the City, and to specify the pro-
portionate share of the costs that are to be borne by the City
and Southern Pacific Company, as more particularly set forth
in the form of agreement submitted to the City by Southern
Pacific Company;

WHEREAS, the Southern Pacific Company and the City
of Anaheim contemplate the joint installation of flashing light
signals at Cerritos Avenue, Crossing No. BK- 51i.8, South Anaheim,
Orange County, California; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the agreement this day submitted to the
City Council by the Southern Pacific Company, to be made and
entered into by and between said Company and the City, for the
joint installation of said flashing light signals at Cerritos
Avenue, Crossing No. BK- 511.8, South Anaheim, Orange County,
California, the terms and conditions of which agreement are as
hereinafter set forth, be, and the same is hereby approved and
accepted. That the terms and conditions of said agreement are
as follows:
1. Southern Pacific Company at its expense, shall
prepare its track to receive paving, including any necessary rail
change, and the installation of creosoted gum timbers in the ex-
isting crossing area.
2. Southern Pacific Company shall furnish and install
creosoted gum timbers in the widened portions of the crossing
area at the expense of the City, for which expense City shall
reimburse/rt p upon presentation of bills therefor.

3. Southern Pacific Company shall furnish all neces-
sary labor, materials, tools and equipment to install and shall
install two (2) flashing light grade crossing signals, together
with actuating and operating circuits and adequate instrument
housing. Said signals shall be located approximately as indi-
cated in red on the print of Southern Pacific Company's Los
Angeles Division Drawing A -5587, Sheet No. 2, revised December 13,
1961, attached and made a part of said agreement.
Such installation shall include the removal of the
existing crossing signs indicated in yellow on said print above
mentioned.
The City shall reimburse Southern Pacific Company
promptly upon receipt of bills therefor for fifty (50) per cent
of all cost and expense incurred by said company in connection

with the furnishing and installation of said flashing light
signals and appurtenances and the removal of the existing
crossing signs.
City at City's expense shall furnish and place all
paving, curbs, gutters, drainage and other roadway facilities.
5. After the work contemplated hereunder has been com-
pleted, Southern Pacific Company at its expense shall maintain the
protective devices and the portions of the crossing area lying
within two (2) feet outside the rails located thereon.
The City of Anaheim at its expense shall maintain the
portions of said crossing lying outside such lines, together with
curbs, gutters, drainage and other roadway facilities.
6. The work contemplated shall be undertaken as soon
as labor and materials are available, following execution of said
agreement, and shall be completed within one (1) year thereafter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk
be, and they are hereby, authorized to execute said agreement
for and on behalf of the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 7th day of August, 1962
