A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM PROHIBITING ?''ARKING ON
STATE HIGHWAY NO, 174 (SANTA'ANA FREEWAY)
FROM LOARA STREET TO BROADWAY, IN THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine,
upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation,
that it would facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular
traffic and would promote the general safety and welfare to
prohibit the parking of motor vehicles upon State Highway
No. 171 (Santa Ana Freeway), between Loara Street and Broad-
way Street, in the City of Anaheim;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that no person, firm or corporation
shall park any motor vehicle on either side of State Highway
No. 174 (Santa Ana Freeway), between Loara Street and Broad-
way Street, in the City of Anaheim, except authorized
emergency vehicles as defined in Sections 4) to )!)1,12, both
inclusive, of the Vehicle Code of the State of California.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any provision of this
resolution which regulates traffic or delegates the regula-
tion of traffic upon State highways in any way for which the
approval of the Department of Public Works is required Iby
State law, shall cease to be operative six (6) months after
receipt by the City Council of written notice of withdrawal
of approval of the Department of Public Works.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that whenever this
resolution delegates authority to a City officer, or author-
izes action by the City Council to regulate traffic upon a
State highway in any way which by State law requires the
prior approval of the Department of Public Works, no such
officer shall exercise such authority nor shall such action
by the City Council be effective with respect to any State
highway without the prior approval, in writing, of the
Department of Public Works in and to the extent required by
Division 9 and Division 11 of the Vehicle Code.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that before this resolu-
tion shall become effective it shall first be submitted to
and approved, in writing, by the Department of Public Works,
and from and after the date of approval by the Department
of Public Works of the State of California said resolution
shall be in full force and effect until rescinded by the
City Council or as herein otherwise provided.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 13th day of December, 1955.
