CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted on August 7, 2025; the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Linda Newby at 4:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Jackie Filbeck, Linda Newby, Amanda Wortman

I. INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS
A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends of Anaheim
Public Library made a total of $538.10 at their July Sale. Their next sale is August 15, 2025.
The Friends welcomed two new Board Members, Jason Rice and Alonso Flores. The
application for Samueli Funding to convert the media room to a Friends Book Sale area was
submitted
B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: None.
C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: Library staff met with
Foundation President Charlene Bowden and Library Board Member Linda Newby to discuss
planned giving options and recruiting new Foundation Board Members. All are invited to the
Anaheim Public Library Foundation meetings. Please call Library Administration for more
information.
D. COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JULY 14, 2025, MEETING: The minutes were approved as
presented.
III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL ON THE CONDITION
OF THE LIBRARIES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024/25 PER ARTICLE IX. APPOINTIVE
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, SECTION 908: The Library Board will consider what
the report should focus on for this fiscal year.

IV. NEW BUSINESS:
A. HASKETT MAKERSPACE AND RECORDING STUDIO PROJECT: Magali Rivera
presented the plans for the 650 square feet Haskett Makerspace and Media Lab, officially
named Link Labs. This space will provide space and tools for the community to do
podcasting, videography, 3D Printing, laser cutting, sewing, embroidering, a memory lab to
digitize older media, and more. The goal is to create a space for intergenerational
collaborations. This space is funded by various grants and donations from the community.
The grand opening will be October 4, 2025.
B. APL/ALTRUSA/AESD/CESD CREATIVE WRITING PROJECT: Jon Andersen presented
the plans for the 1 Ith Annual Creative Writing Project.
V. INFORMATION
A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
• APL/AESD collaboration to support literacy for students, maximize the use of our APT,
online resources, and raise reading scores: Library staff attended the AESD Leadership
Summit and presented the resources that Anaheim Public Library offers.
B. BUDGET: None.

A. STATISTIC SANFOGRAPHIC S/ACTIVITY REPORTS: None.
VII. BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER JACKIE FILBECK: Appreciates the collaboration with APT, and AESD.
MEMBER AMANDA WORTMAN: Is enjoying the new mobile app.
CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Is impressed by the statistics for online resources. She also recognized
Lucky Duran for her older adults programming.

A. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be October 13, 2025, at the Central Library.
B. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Newby adjourned the meeting at 5:35 p.m.
