A .ESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF A PETITION
FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED
TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, DESIGNATING
THE TERRITORY AS THE
HOU TON NO.
ANNEXATION; DE:CRIBING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE
TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED AND GIVING
NOTICE OF THE DAY, HOUR AND PLACE 'THERE AND
WHEN ANY PERSON OWNING REAL PROPERTY WITHIN
SUCH TERRITORY SO PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED MAY
APPEAR BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL AND SHOW CAUSE
WHY SUCH TERRITORY SHOULD NOT BE ANNEXED TO
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim dit,
on the 26th day of J1y 19 55 receive a
written petition asking that certain new territory described ill
:aid petition be annexed to the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, before the filing of said petition, the pro-
posal for the annexation of the territory hereinafter described
to the City of Anaheim was submitted to the Boundary Commissiox
of the County of Orange, State of California, and reported upon
by said Boundary Commission with respect to the definiteness and
certainty of the proposed boundaries; and
WHEREAS, said territory proposed to be annexed to said
City of Anaheim is situated in the County of Orange, State of
California, and is contiguous to the City of Anaheim and is un-
inhabited territory, and said petition contained a description.
of said territory in words and figures as hereinafter in this
Resolution described; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds from evidence and re-
received that at the time of the filing and receipt of sail
petition, it was and now is signed by owners of not less than one
fourth of the area and not less than one fourth of the
assessed valuation of the land in such territory proposed to be
annexed, according to the last preceding equalized county assess-
ment roll; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds from evidence and re-
torts received and from said petition that at the time of the
filing and presentation of said petition that said new territory
proposed to be annexed to said City of Anaheim did not form a
part of any municipal corporation and that said territory was un-
inhabited and is contiguous to the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds from said petition and
evidence and reports received that the boundaries of the territory
so prorprosed to be annexed to the City of Anaheim are as follows,
to wit:
HOUSTON NO. 2 ANNEXATION
A parcel of land being a portion of Section 5, Township 4 South, Range
10 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian in the Rancho Los Coyotes, County
of Orange, State of California, as shown upon a map made by Charles T. Healey
upon survey by him about 1870 for the Stearns Ranchos Company, described as
follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the southerly line of Houston
Street (60 feet wide) as shown on a Record of Survey Map filed in Book 20, Page
40, of Record of Surveys of said County, with the westerly line (or its prolon—
gation) of the parcel of land described in Certificate No. 8485 on file in the
Office of the Registrar of Titles of said County, said point of intersection
being distant westerly 2303.11 feet, more or less, along said southerly line
from its intersection with the easterly line of said Section 5; thence,
1. SO 00'15 "W 1309.01 feet, more or less, along said westerly line (and
its prolongation) to the northerly line of the parcel of land described in the
deed to Ernest Browning, recorded in Book 127 at Page 131 of Deeds, in the office
of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County thence,
2. N89 0 55'37 "W 1010 feet, more or less, along said northerly line and
its prolongation to a point 331.00 feet easterly, as measured at right angles
from a point in the east property line or its prolongation of that parcel of
land described as the West 10 acres of the SE -.1- of the SW;r of Section 5,
T4S, R1OW, SBBM, said east property line also being the existing Anaheim City
Limits Line as established by the Houston Avenue Annexation to the City
of Anaheim, Annexation No. 32 as passed by Ordinance No. 830 on January 13, 1953
and filed with the Secretary of State on February 24, 1953; thence,
3. Southerly 1095 feet, more or less, along a line parallel to and 331.00
feet easterly of said east property line and existing Anaheim City Limits line
to a point in said existing Anaheim City Limits line, said point being located
240.00 feet northerly, as measured at right angles from the southerly line of
said Section 5, said southerly line of Section 5 also being the centerline of
La Palma Avenue; thence,
4. Westerly 331 feet, more or less, along said existing Anaheim City
Limits line and parallel to and 240 feet northerly of said southerly line of
Section 5 to a point in said east property line of West 10 acres of SEL- of Sb "fit
of Section 5, said point also being an angle point in said existing Anaheim
City Limits line; thence,
5. Northerly 1095 feet, more or less, along said east property line and sai,
existing Anaheim City Limits line to the northeast corner of said westerly 10
acres of SE4 of SW- of Section 5, said northeast corner also being the southeast
corner of that parcel of land described as the west 10.16 acres of the NE1 of
SW4 of said Section 5; thence,
6. Continuing northerly 1304 feet, more or less, along said existing
Anaheim City Limits line and along said east property line of 10.16 acre
parcel and its prolongation to a point in the southerly right of way line of
Houston Street (60 feet wide); thence,
7. Easterly 1345 feet along said southerly right of way line of Houston
Street to the point of beginning.
in a newspaper of general circulation, published in the City, to
wit: The Anaheim Bulletin of Anaheim, Orange County, California,
and also in a newspaper of general circulation, published outside
of the City, but in the County of Orange, in which is located the
territory hereinabove proposed to be annexed to the City of
Anaheim, to wit: the Cypress Enterprise and that
such publication shall be completed at least twenty (20) days
prior to the date of hearing hereinabove specified.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the
City of Anaheim be, and she is hereby, authorized and directed
to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed
to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be
annexed is assessed, in the last equalized county assessment roll
available, on the date the proceedings were initiated, at the
address shown on said assessment roll or as known to said City
Clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and
the designation of lands in which he has any interest, either
legal or equitable, with said Clerk; and in the event that land
within the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of
Anaheim is owned by a County, the City Clerk of the City of
Anaheim shall also cause written notice of such proposed annex-
ation to be mailed to the Board of Supervisors of such County.
The foregoing notices shall be given not less than twenty (20)
days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is signed and approved by me
