A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE FIRE CHIEF, OR DESIGNEE
TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND
SECURITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024 STAFFING FOR
ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE (SAFER)
GRANT PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE BUDGET
ACCORDINGLY
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency of the U.S. Department
of Homeland Security (the "Grantor") has heretofore invited public agencies, including the City
of Anaheim, to submit applications for the Fiscal Year 2024 Staffing for Adequate Fire and
Emergency Response (SAFER) grant program (the "Grant"); and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief for the City of Anaheim, by and through his designee,
submitted an application on behalf of the City of Anaheim to the Grantor for said Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City was awarded a Grant amount of $8,326,980, which includes
a local match of 25% in years one and two of the Grant, followed by a 65% local match in year
three of the Grant, for a total local match of $3,192,009; and
WHEREAS, the City is familiar with the terms, conditions and limitations of the
Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City is willing and able to conform to each of the terms, conditions
and limitations imposed upon the City of Anaheim pursuant to the Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to accept the Grant awarded to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Anaheim as follows:
1. The City Council of the City of Anaheim, in support of the Grant
applications to the Grantor, hereby accepts the funds in the amounts specified in the Grant
application and further agrees to commit in kind funds in the amount of $3,192,009 as a local
match.
2. The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby agrees to, and by this
Resolution, does accept the Grant awarded to the City of Anaheim without further action of the
City Council being required therefore.
3. The City Council of the City of Anaheim hereby agrees to comply with each
and all of the terms, conditions and limitations imposed by the Grantor upon said Grants, and the
Fire Chief or designee is hereby authorized and directed to execute any agreements, assurances, or
other documents and take any actions as may be necessary in connection with the acceptance of
said Grant as may be required by the Grantor.
4. The annual budget of the City of Anaheim is hereby amended by increasing revenue
and expenditures in an amount equal to the amount of the Grant funds awarded.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim this 14th day of October, 2025, by the following roll call vote:
