A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE INVESTMENT OF THE SUM OF $10,000.00
CONTRIBUTED TO THE CITY OF ANAHEIM BY
JOHN J. DWYER FOR THE CARE, MAINTENANCE
AND PRESERVATION OF THE MOTHER COLONY
HOUSE AS A HISTORICAL MONUMENT OR MUSEUM.
WHEREAS, John J. Dwyer has contributed to the City
of Anaheim the sum of 410,000,00 to be used by the City for
the care, maintenance and preservation of the Mother Colony
House, located on North West Street in the City of Anaheim,
as a historical monument or museum; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said principal
sum of 410,000,00 is not presently needed for the care,
maintenance and preservation of said Mother Colony House and
that it would be for the best interest of the City of Aneheim
and the citizens and residents thereof to invest the said sum
of 410,000.00 in stocks or bonds and use the income derived
therefrom for the necessary care, maintenance and preserva-
tion of said Mother Colony House;
NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the sum of $10,000.00 contributed
to the City of Anaheim by the said John J. Dwyer be invested
in the common stock of American Telephone and Telegraph Com-
pany, and that the income derived therefrom be used for the
care, maintenance and preservation of said Mother Colony House,
so long as the principal thereof shall not be needed for such
care, maintenance and preservation and said funds shall re-
main invested, or so long as the Mother Colony House can be
maintained as a historical monument or museum in accordance
with the deed accepting the conveyance of said property to the
City of Anaheim; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Keith Murdoch, City
Administrator, be and he is hereby authorized and directed
to purchase so much of the common stock of American Telephone
and Telegraph Company as can be obtained with said sum of
410,000.00; and that any income derived therefrom be used
as hereinabove provided.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is signed and approved by
me this 13th day of April, 1954.

do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Anaheim,held
on the 13th day of April, 1954, by the following vote of the members
thereof:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Pearson, Fry, Wisser and Van Wagoner.
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT: COUNCILMAN: Schutte.
AND I FURTHER CERTIFY that the Mayor of the City of Anaheim
approved and signed said resolution on the 13th day of April, 1954.
