CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted on September 4, 2025; the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Linda Newby at 4:30 p.m.

I. INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: None.
B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: Officer elections will be held at the
September 18, 2025, meeting. Their next flash sale is September 23 — 24, 2025.
C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation continues to
explore new ways to recruit board members.
D. COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 11, 2025, MEETING: The minutes were approved
as presented.
III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL ON THE CONDITION
OF THE LIBRARIES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024/25 PER ARTICLE IX. APPOINTIVE
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, SECTION 908: The Library Board discussed the outline
of the letter.
IV. NEW BUSINESS:
A. LIBRARY MOBILE APP: Thomas Edelblute demonstrated the new Anaheim Public
Library Mobile App, available to download for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play
Store.
B. POET LAUREATE SELECTION COMMITTEE: Thomas thanked Amanda Wortman for
volunteering to be on the selection committee.

V. INFORMATION
A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:
• Thomas acknowledged Yadira Moreno and Cecilia Roman from AESD for helping to
further the APL/AESD collaboration to support literacy for students, maximize the use
of our APL online resources, and raise reading scores.
• Central Library is hosting a MURAL Painting with artist Carla Roque on October 5,
2025, in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month.
• On September 27, 2025, Anaheim Central Library will hold Spinal Dread: Horror
Literature and Culture Festival.
• Thomas thanked Amanda Wortman, Jackie Filbeck, and Rose Chen for sharing the
Library's Community Survey with different areas of the community.
B. BUDGET: None.
VI. ACTIVITY REPORTS
A. STATISTIC S/INFOGRAPHICS/ACTIVITY REPORTS: None.
VII. BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER AMANDA WORTMAN: Is excited to attend the Spinal Dread event and is amazed at the
caliber of authors that will be there. She is also impressed with the programming being offered for
Hispanic Heritage Month.
MEMBER ELIA RENTERIA-GARICA: Is impressed with the level of programming being offered
for Hispanic Heritage Month.
MEMBER JACKIE FILBECK: Shared that APL/AESD collaboration is increasing the usage of the
Library's online resources.
VICE CHAIR ROSE CHEN: Appreciates that the new Library Mobile App is simple to use.
CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Appreciates that staff can look up library accounts by birthday when she
forgets her library card. She is also excited that the Mobile App has the ability to store users' library
card barcodes.
VIII. MISCELLANEOUS
A. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be October 13, 2025, at the Central Library.
B. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Newby adjourned the meeting at 5:35 p.m.
