A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM ACCEPTING A DEED CONVEYING
CERTAIN PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF ANAHEIM TO
BE MAINTAINED AS AN HISTORICAL MONUMENT OR
MUSEUM, UPON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS HERE-
INAFTER SET FORTH; AND ESTABLISHING A BOARD
TO BE KNOWN AS A MUSEUM BOARD TO AID THE
CITY COUNCIL IN THE CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF
SAID PROPERTY AS AN HISTORICAL MONUMENT OR
MUSEUM AND TO ADVISE THE CITY COUNCIL IN
CONNECTION THEREWITH.
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Chapter of the Daughters of
the American Revolution is now the owner of all that certain
real property situated in the City of Anaheim, County of
Orange, State of California, more particularly described as
follows, to wit:
Beginning at a point on the West line of Vine-
yard Lot C -7, Map of the Lands of Anaheim, in
the County of Orange, State of California, as
per map thereof recorded in Book t}., Pages 629
and 630 of Deeds, Records of Los Angeles County,
California, Mich point is 180 feet South of
the Northwest corner of said lot; thence at
right angles East 82 feet; thence at right
angles South 55 feet; thence at right angles
West 82 feet to the West line of said Vineyard
Lot C -7; and thence North along said West line
55 feet to the point of beginning;
SUBJECT to conditions, reservations, easements,
rights and rights -of -way of record;
AND WHEREAS, there is now situated upon said prop-
erty that certain house or dwelling commonly known and de-
scribed as "The Mother Colony House," and a museum in which
are kept and maintained articles and documents of historical
interest to the citizens and residents of the City of Anaheim;
and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the said Anaheim Chapter
of the Daughters of the American Revolution to transfer and
convey said property, together with the building situated there-
on, to the City of Anaheim to be kept and maintained by the City
as an historical monument and /or museum, upon the terms and con-
ditions hereinafter specified; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine
that it would be for the advantage and the best interest of the
City of Anaheim and the citizens and residents thereof to ac-
cept said conveyance and to maintain said real property and
said Mother Colony House and the museum situated therein as an
historical monument or museum, to preserve the articles and
things of historical interest therein situated and connected
therewith.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the deed dated the 15th day of
September, 1953, tendered to the City by the Anaheim Chapter
of the Daughters of the American Revolution, transferring
and conveying to the City of Anaheim the property and premises
hereinabove mentioned and described, situated in the City of
Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California, be, and the
same is hereby, accepted upon the following terms and con-
ditions, to wit:
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is signed and approved by
me this 23rd day of February, 1954.
ATTEST:
1. That in the event that the growth and ex-
pansion of the City of Anaheim should
result in such a change in the neighborhood
in which said property is now located that
it would be undesirable or uneconomical to
continue the maintenance of said museum and /or
historical monument at said location, then and
in that event the City of Anaheim shall have
the right to remove said building and museum
to another location to be selected by it.
2. That in the event that,as a result of the
aging of the wood or disintegration of the
materials of which said building on the above
described property is constructed, it is im-
practicable or impossible to repair and main-
tain the same as such museum and /or historical
monument, the City of Anaheim shall then have
the right to discontinue its maintenance as
such museum and /or historical monument.
That in the event of such an occurrence the
Advisory Board hereinafter provided for shall
recommend to the City Council what disposition
shall be made of the building and contents.
3. That an Advisory Board, consisting of five (5)
or more members shall be created and established
by the City Council of the City of Anaheim to
aid and advise the City Council in the opera-
tion and care of said property and building as
an historical monument or a museum. The
members of such Advisory Board shall be ap-
pointed by the Mayor with the consent and ap-
proval of the City Council.
