A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM ASCERTAINING AND DETERMIN-
ING THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE
PAID FOR EACH CRAFT OR TYPE OF WORKMAN OR
MECHANIC NEEDED FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS
FOR THE FURNISHING OF ALL MATERIALS, PLANT,
LABOR AND SERVICES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
INSTALLATION AND COMPLETION OF A FIXED TIME
TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
does find and determine that public convenience and necessity
require the acquisition of materials, plant, labor and
services for the public improvement, including the furnishing
and installation of fixed time traffic signals, with street
lighting, in the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the State
of California requires that the City Council ascertain and
determine the general prevailing rate of hourly wages and
rates for legal holidays and overtime work on public works and
improvements in the locality in which the work is to be per-
formed, for each craft or type of workman, laborer or mechanic
needed for the execution of such public contracts and the making
of such public improvements, and for the furnishing of all plant,
labor, services, materials and equipment and performing all work
necessary for the execution and completion of said public con-
tracts or improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that, in accordance with the provisions of
Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the State of California, the
City Council has ascertained and does hereby determine the
general prevailing rate of hourly wages and rates for legal
holidays and overtime work on public works and public improve-
ment of furnishing and installing fixed time traffic signals,
with street lighting, in the City of Anaheim, in the locality
in which such work is to be performed and each craft or type
of laborer, workman or mechanic needed for the execution of
public works contracts or contracts for furnishing of all
plant, labor, materials, services and equipment for the public
improvement including the furnishing and installation of
fixed time traffic signal,, with street lighting, projects
in the City of Anaheim, anal that said prevailing rates so
determined are as follows:

The foregoing wage scale and rates are for an eight
hour day, forty hour week, time and one-half for overtime and
double time Sundays and Holidays, except as otherwise provided
in the June, 1953 revision of the A.G.C. A.F.L. Southern
California Master Labor Agreement and Supplements, which shall
govern for such overtime and double time pay, and for the wage
scale for Foremen not otherwise listed above. Holidays as
herein referred to shall be deemed to be New Year's Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice Day,
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of the above men-
tioned holidays, other than Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day,
falls on Sunday, the Monday following shall be considered a
legal holiday.
The overtime rule establishing the dates of overtime
and holiday work shall be in accordance with the following:
Where a single shift is worked, eight hours of continuous em-
ployment, except for lunch periods, shall constitute a day's
work beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday each
week. Where work is required in excess of eight hours in any
one day or during the interval of time from 5:00 P.M. Friday
and 12:00 o'clock midnight Saturday night, such work shall be
paid for at the minimum rate of one and one-half (1i) times
the basic rate of wages, and on Sundays and holidays such work
shall be paid for at the minimum rate of double the basic rate
of wages, except as otherwise provided in the June, 1953 re-
vision of the A.G.C. A.F.L. Southern California Master Labor
Agreement and Supplements.
Properly indentured apprentices to any of the trades
listed above maybe employed upon such public improvements
with skilled workmen, subject to the provisions of Section
1777.5 of the Labor Code of the State of California the wage
rates for such apprentices to be determined as provided in
said Section 1777.5.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 8th day of December, 1953.
