A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM EMPLOYING C. V. TAORMINA AND WM. ST.PANIAN
AS INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS TO COLLECT, PICK -UP AND
DISPOSE OF ALL RUBBISH AND TRASH ALONG CERTAIN
STREETS IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, FIXING THEIR COM-
P.ENSATION AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK
TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THEM FOR AND ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, 0. V. Taormina and Wm. Stepanian have submitted
a proposal to the City for the collection and disposal of
rubbish and trash along both sides of the following described
streets and alleys and the following business establishments:
Alley north of Center Street from Atchison Street
to Palm Street.
Alley south of Center Street from Atchison to Palm
Street. (Alley and Oak Street are same alignment.)
Los Angeles Street from Broadway to Water Street.
Alley east of Los Angeles Street between Broadway
and Santa Ana Street.
Los Angeles Street from Chartres to Sycamore Street.
Alleys east and west of Los Angeles Street from
Sycamore to North Street.
Lemon Street Broadway to Oak Street.
Broadway -'Los Angeles to Lemon Street.
Chestnut Street from Los Angeles Street to Lemon
Street.
A business establishment of Shipkey Pearson located
at 201 N. Los Angeles Street.
A business establishment of Neff Paint Glass Company
located at 200 N. Los Angeles Street.
daily six days per week for a period of one year from the lst
day of August, 1953 to the 31st day of July, 1954 for the sui
of $1,000.00 per month such collection and disposal of said
rubbish and trash to be by truck similar to those used by the
City, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the acceptance of
said offer and disposal will be for the benefit and best in-
terests of the City of Anaheim, and economical, and that such
offer should be accepted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anhheim that the proposal submitted by said C. V.
Taormina and Wm. Stepanian be accepted, and that they be
employed as independent contractors for a period of one year
from the lst day of August, 1953 to the 31st day of July, 1954
to collect, pick up, remove and dispose of all rubbish and

trash upon and along the streets and alleys and from the busi-
ness establishments heretofore mentioned and described, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said collection, removal and
disposal of said rubbish and trash shall be done six days per
week during said term of one year and shall be by motor truck
similar to those used by the City of Anaheim, and that the
time of the collection and pick up shall be between the hours
of 6:00 A.M. and 10 :00 A.M.; that the disposal of paper and
cardboard may, at the discretion of the City Council, be by
bailing at the Vermont Street dump; that all rubbish and trash
shall be transported as required by the City Engineer to the
County Dump; that said contractors shall maintain the area used
by them at the Vermont Street dump in a manner satisfactory to
the City Engineer, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said oontractors be, and they
are hereby, required to furnish the City of Anaheim a faithful
performance bond in the sum of $6,000.00 to guarantee the
faithful performance of said contract, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said rubbish and trash shall
be collected and removed from all places of business along
both sides of the streets and alleys hereinbefore mentioned
and described and shall include suoh places as Allents Market,
Roquet Market and the Anaheim Bulletin and the other business
establishments hereinbefore mentioned, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said contractors be, and they
are hereby required to carry and maintain oompensation insur-
ance satisfactory to the City of Anaheim covering all of their
employees and pubiio liability insurance with the minimum
limit of $50,000.00 for one person and the maximum limit of
$100,000.00 for more than one person for death or injuries aris-
ing from any one accident and property damage with the minimum
limit of $5,000.00 and the maximum limit of $25,000.00 upon
each vehicle operated by them, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said contractors shall re-
ceive as compensation for such contract and work the sum of
X 1,000.00 per month, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if the contract herein author-
ized and the work to be done thereunder is satisfactorily per-
formed, said oontractors shall have and they are hereby given
an option to renew said contract upon like terms and conditions
as herein set forth or as may be mutually agreed upon, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby
reserve the right to extend the contract from month to month
for a reasonable period of time upon the same terms as herein
s ied during negotiations for a renewal of said oontraot,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk
be, and they are hereby authorized and empowered to enter into
a contract for and on behalf of the City of Anaheim with said
contractors for the doing of said work upon the terms and con-
ditions herein set forth.
