Hi Amanda,
I would like to provide feedback regarding this proposed Festival project for consideration during the
upcoming meeting.
I strongly oppose this project because of the fire evacuation risk.
This project is of a similar scale and scope to the recently rejected project proposal for developing the
Deer Canyon area. That project was rejected due to fire concerns from residents and the Fire
Chief. That project estimated that the current evacuation times were close to 3 hours, without the
added time from any additional housing projects (That project added 24 minutes, and I would expect
similar times from this project)
We need a moratorium on all large-scale building projects in the nearby area until significant
infrastructure improvements are made to reduce the evacuation times.
With evacuation times, the issue is with evacuating the residents that border the hills uphill from this
project. There are only two major arteries to evacuate, which are Weir Canyon Road and Nohl Ranch
road (Serrano was shut down). When you insert 1000 cars near the freeway, those cars must clear
1
the area before the residents in the high fire risk areas can evacuate. The project itself might be
secure in a fire, but adding the additional traffic is the issue.
This proposal puts the lives of residents at risk and must be rejected.
Thanks,
Andrew Winger
