EMPLOYING C. V. TAORMINA AND STFPANIAN AS INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS TO COLLECT, PICK UP AND DISPOSE OF ALL RUBBISH AND TRASH ALONG CERTAIN STREETS IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM: FIXING THEIR COM- PENSATION AND AUTHORIZING- THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENT:FR INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE 7 0P AND ON =ALF TND CTTY OF ANAHEa7i. WHEREAS, C. V. Taormina and Wm. Stepanian have submitted a Alley north of Center Street from Atchison Street to Palm Street. Alley south of Center Street from Atchison to Palm Street. (Alley and Oak Street are same alignment). Los Angeles Street from Broadway to Water Street. Alley east of Los Angeles Street between Broadway and Santa Ana Street. Los Angeles Street from Chartres to Sycamore Street. Alleys east and. west of Los Angeles Street from Sycamore to North Street. Lemon Street Broadway to Oak Street. Broadway Los Angeles to Lemon Street. 20 21 daily six days per week for a period of six months from the first 22 day of May, 1952, for the sum of Five Hundred Fifty and no/100 23 Dollars per month until such time as the price of card 1 24 board shall reach the sum of 420.00 per ton and waste paper the pr ice of c 00 per ton, and thereafter said Parties of the Second 26 Part shall receive Three uundred and no/100 (300.00) nol3ers per 27 month. Such collection and disposal of said rubbish and trash to 28 1 be by truck similar to those used by the City, and 1 29 WH7REAS, the City Council finds that the acceptance of said i 30 offer and proposal would be for the benefit and best interest of 3 1 the City of Anaheim, and economical, and that such offer should be 32 accepted; CITY OF ANAHEIM r 204 E. CENTER ST. ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA 1 N0 THERFORT, 9F IT RFSOLVFD by the City Council of the 2 City of Anaheim that the proposal submitted by said C. V. Taormina 3 and Wm. Stepanian be accepted and that they be employed. as indepen- 4 dent contractors for a period of six months to collect, pick up, 5 remove and dispose of all rubbish and trash upon and along the 6 streets and alleys hereinbefore mentioned and described, and 7 BE IT 7 URTPPR RESOLVED that said collection, removal and 8 disposal of said rubbish and trash shall be done six days per week 9 7 during said term of six months and shall be by motor truck similar 10 to those used by the City of Anaheim and that the time of collection 11 l and pick up shall be between 6:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M.; that the 12 'disposal of paper and cardboard shall be by baling at the Vermont 13 Street dump; that all other rubbish and trash shall be transported 14 weekly, or at intervals as required by the City Engineer, from the 15 ,Vermont Street dump to the County dump; that said contractors shall 16 maintain the area used by them at the Vermont Street damp in a 17 manner satisfactory to the City Fngineer, and 18 Br IT FTJRTHFR RF that said contractors be, and they 19 are hereby, required to furnish to the City of Anaheim a faithful 20 performance bond in the sum of Two Thousand ((l'2,000.00) Dollars to '1 guarantee the faithful performance of said contract, and 22 BE IT 7URTHFR RPSOLVPD that said rubbish and trash shall be 23 collected and removed from all places of business along both sides 24 of Center Street from Atchison to Palm Streets and along both sides 25 of Los Angeles Street from 'fiater to North Streets, and shall in- 26 clude such places as Allen's Trarket, Roquet's Market and the Anaheim 27 Bulletin, and 28 BF IT TPUFTHF'R RESOLVED that said contractors be, and they are 29 hereby. required to carry and ma:ntain compensation insurance satis- factory to the City of Anaheim covering all of their employees, and 61 public liability and property damage insurance in the amount of 32 1 50,000 1.00,000 upon each vehicle operated by them, and property CITY OF ANAHEIM 204 E. ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA -2- 1 damage in the amount of a'5,000 .125,000 upon each vehicle ouerat 2 ed by them. 3 AND 7 IT t'URTI-TrTi R7SOLVFD that said contractors shall re- 4 ceive as compensation for such contract and work, the sum of 5 ,,550.00 per month, until such time as the price of cardboard shall 6 reach the sum of 20.00 per ton anC waste paper the price of (8.00 7 per ton.
