RESOLUTION NO. 1
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
URGING THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA TO
ESTABLISH A FREEWAY TO BE KNOWN AS THE CORONA FREEWAY
EXTENDING FROM THE CITY OF CORONA TO THE LONG BEACH
HARBOR AREA AS HEREINAFTER MORE PARTICULARLY SET FORTH.
WHEREAS, that section of new Freeway of California State Highway No. 18 and
U.S. Highway No. 91 extending for approximately 12.8 miles southwest from the
west City Limits of the City of Corona as in the past commonly known as the
Santa Ana Canyon Road, and
WHEREAS, from a point approximately 12.8 miles southwest of the west City
Limits of the City of Corona it is proposed to intersect State Highway No. 18
and /or U.S. Highway No. 91 with a new section of four (4) lane freeway and with
new bridge to replace the Yorba Bridge at State Highway No. 14 approximately 110
miles to intersect the Santa Ana Freeway, and
WHEREAS, by continuing Highway 14 along Orangethorpe to the Coyote Creek a
running diagonally along a line roughly parallel to the Orange -Los Angeles Count
boundary to Los Alamitos Circle in Long Beach in order to connect with the Long
Beach Harbor area and intervening points, this route can intercept and accommoda
a heavy volume of traffic now funnelled through the congested area of the City
of Anaheim, and
WHEREAS, these sections of freeway when completed will be a continuous sect
of freeway connecting the City of Corona in Riverside County with the Santa Ana
Freeway, and
WHEREAS, this entire section of freeway or at least that part described in
paragraph one above may become known as the Santa Ana Canyon Freeway, and
WHEREAS, two sections of freeway within a small area h a similar name
will c ntinue to cause confusion and misdirection, and
WHEREAS, the City of Corona is at the easterly end of this 24.5 mile sectio
of freeway and is also the junction intersecting California Highway No. 71 (In-
land Route to San Diego) as the City of Santa Ana is located at the southeaste
end of the Santa Ana Freeway.
NOW, THEREFOP.E, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim
that the State Highway Department be and it is hereby urged to designate the en-

tire section of freeway extending westwardly from the west City Limits of the
City of Corona to the intersection of the Santa Ana Freeway if not the entire
route, as described above be henceforth and hereafter known and designated as
the Corona Freeway.
