Tt A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING GRANT OF HIGHWAY USERS' TAX FUND FOR REPAIRING LA PALMA AVENUE. WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, a City of the Sixth Class, in the County of Orange, desires to repair La Palma Avenue, a street within the incorporated limits of the City of Anaheim, the nature and extent of the contemplated project being more fully described hereafter; WHEREAS, there is attached hereto, marked "EXHIBIT A" and made a part here- of, a sketch showing the location of La Palma Avenue and its relationship to the principal highways of the County of Orange in said area; and WHEREAS, Section 2150 of the Streets and Highway Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of California Highway Users' Tax Fund for aid to cities in the improvement, construction or repair of a street within a city, provided that the Board of Supervisors of such County, determine that the project is in the general County interest; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, that the City of Anaheim here by requests the County of Orange for a grant of aid in the sum of Seventeen thousand, Eighty -seven ($17,087.00) Dollars out of the County's apportionment of the California Highway Users' Tax Fund, the amount requested to be used exclusively for the following purposes: 1. The repair of La Palma Avenue, situated as designated on "Exhibit A" hereof. 2. The nature and extent of the project and the estimated cost thereof are substantially as follows: The portion of West La Palma Avenue which is in the worst state of disrepair is from a point 400 feet west of North Palm Street to a point 1320 feet east of Euclid Avenue and was improved many years ago with a 2" oil surface, the surface is now shattered and pitted and becoming dangerous to traffic. It is proposed to remove the present surfacing; full width between curbs and to resur- face the area with a 24 foot strip of 4" plant mix travelway with 8 ft. oiled shoulders. Width of improvement is 40 ft. and length 3800 ft., involving an estimated cost of $17,087.00 as follows: Excavation 7200 yds. $0.50 Plant Mix Surfacing 2250 Ts $4.00 Oil Shoulders 66500 sq. ft. $9.049 Supervision Contingencies $3,600.00 9,000.00 3,287.00 1,200.00 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 BE IT FURTHWR RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange be and is hereby requested to find that the repair of La Palma Avenue in the manner aforesaid is in the general County interest in that; It is a street of major importance running from Manchester Freeway into and through the City Limits of Anaheim connecting with Euclid Avenue, Palm Street (Harbor Blvd.) and U.S. Highway 101. This street is now carrying large portions of the traffic from Manchester Freeway to the North cart of the City of Anaheim and adjacent unincorporn.ted territory and to the heavy industrial district of the city. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the grant of the aid hereby requested is con- tingent upon an independent finding by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange that the purpose for which aid is hereby sought is in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is understood that upon acceptance by the City of Anaheim of any grant which may be made by the County of Orange, pursuant to this request, this Resolution, the Resolution of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange specifying the terms and conditions of the grant, and any and all laws applicable, shall constitute the Agreement between the City of Ana- heim and the County of Orange respecting the grant. BE IT '`URTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED, that the City Clerk of the City of Ana- heim be and he is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange, State of California.
