Hello, I am ag ains t this project. Below is my public comment tha t I s ubmitted to object to the projec t tha t wa s s l a ted for Deer C anyon
L a s t year that was rejected by this C ouncil. I ha ve made a few edits to upda te it for thi s project. For the s a me reas ons , thi s C ouncil
s hould reject this Ana heim Hills Fes tival Project.
I live in Anaheim Hills in the 92808 zipcode to the ea s t of Serra no Blvd. Our neig hborhood i s in the pa rt of town tha t is i n the
mandatory evacua tion area when there is a wildfire tha t s tarts to the ea s t of Ana heim. I'm oppos ed to thi s project becaus e I bel i eve it
pos es a s evere s afety threa t to the exis ting community.
We live in a community tha t has a real and known wildfire threa t. When we experienced our las t wi l dfire i n 2017, the roa ds were
clog g ed a nd impa s s ible. The community wa s in cha os . The wind was hig h, a nd the fire wa s moving fa s t. D uring the fire, a hel i copter
flew over our neig hborhood telling us to evacua te immediately. At the s ame time, I received a call from R unni ng Spri ng s Elementa ry
where my children a ttended, a nd was told tha t the children were being evacua ted to Ca nyon Hig h School. O n the dri ve over to C anyon
Hig h School, I pas s ed patches of fire tha t were jus t s evera l feet from my ca r which were l i kely s et from flyi ng embers . T ha nkful l y the
traffic ha d not yet come to a s tands till, and I wa s able to pa s s . It's terrifying to think tha t I c oul d ha ve been s tuc k in my car with
nowhere to g o a s the wind wa s blowing fire everywhere. We have s een this happen in other communiti es s uch as La Haina and
Para dis e where people have died in their cars . Pleas e don't allow that to happen here.
It is with reckles s dis reg a rd for the lives in our community that this g ia nt development could be approved whi ch c oul d ea s ily a dd over
1000 ca rs to our roads . Wha t will ha ppen when we a re eva cuated a g a in? O ur s treets c oul d not handle the a mount of cars tha t exi s ted
here in 2017 during the prior evacua tion. People were trapped in their ca rs a nd una ble to move for hours . Now i n 2025, the day-to-day
traffic ha s only increa s ed and now our s treets cannot ha ndle the traffic that currently exis ts even wi thout a n evac ua tion. Anyti me there
is a problem with the 91 freeway, our s treets become clog g ed a nd we are una ble to move a bout our c ommuni ty. T hi s probl em ha s
increas ed over the yea rs a nd ha s been unaddres s ed by the city. This us ed to only occa s iona lly ha ppen, but now i t s eems to ha ppen
s evera l times a week. If this project is built, the alrea dy s ig nifica nt problem will only bec ome wors e wi th the a ddi tional 1000+ c a rs .
The movie theatre tha t this project will repla ce has been clos ed for years . There ha ve been no cars c omi ng a nd g oi ng to tha t thea tre
while it has been clos ed. During the time tha t it ha s been clos ed, the tra ffic has only increa s ed s i g ni fic a ntly. T he a mount of cars the
thea tre a ttracted ca nnot be compa red to what this new development would bring. It is not a "s wap." It will be an inc reas e of 1000+
ca rs .
Should this C ouncil a pprove this project by g oing a g a ins t the will of the people, then no bui l di ng s hould oc cur until proper infras tructure
is in pla ce. Specifically, the 91 freewa y needs to be fixed s o that the overflow from the freewa y does not c l og our c i ty s treets and make
them impa s s a ble. Nothing has been done in this regard. It is a ba ttle to drive around my nei g hborhood after 4pm on a reg ular ba s is . It
is da ng erous how the tra ffic does not currently flow a nd cars are regularly backed up a nd s tuck i n i nters ec tions - s pecifi cally the Sa nta
Ana C anyon a nd Weir C a nyon inters ection. This is right nea r this project.
