RESOLUTION N0. 1948
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING
GRANT OF HIGHWAY USERS' TAX FUND TOR REPAIRING EAST SYCAMORE STREET
AND EAST= WEST VERMONT AVENUE.
4 II WHESEAS, the City of Anaheim, a City of the Sixth Class, in the County of
5 Orange, desires to repair East Sycamore Street and East and west Vermont Avenue,
6 streets within the incorporated limits of the City of Anaheim, the nature and ex-
7 tent of the contemplated projects being more fully described hereafter;
8 WHEREAS, there is attached hereto, marked "EXHIBIT All and made a
part hereof,
9 a Map showing the location of East Sycamore Street and East and West Vermont Amen
10 and their relationship o the
p principal highways of the County of Orange in said
11 area; and
12 WHEREAS, Section 2150 of the Streets and Highway Code authorises a County, if
13 it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of California Highway Users=
14 Tax Fund for aid to cities in the improvement, construction or repair of a street
15 within a city, provided that the Board of Supervisors of such County, determines
16 that the project to in general County interest;
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim,
18 that the City of Anaheim hereby requests the County of Orange for a grant of aid
19 in the sum of Six Thousand Five Hundred Thirty -eight and 23/100 Dollars ($6,538.23
20 the same being the balance remaining from the grant of $14 ,353.01 granted on April
21 10, 1951 for the improvement of South Palm Street out of the County's apportion
22 meat of the California Highway Users' Tax Fund, the amount requested to be used ex
23 elusively for the following purposes:
24 1.- The repair of Bast Sycamore Street from the existing City Limit line on
25 west to Placentia Avenue on the east and West Vermont Avenue from Los Angeles Street
26 to Palm Street, and East Vermont Avenue from Los Angeles Street to Olive Street.
27 2.- The nature and extent of these projects and the estimated cost thereof
28 are substantially as follows: The south half of East Sycamore Street as above
29 mentioned was regraded and oiled many years ago and has now become rough and un-
30 even and will become a traffic hazard if allowed to continue. It is proposed to
31 regrede and oil this area from the city limit line on the west to Placentia Avenue.
32 Width of improvement 12 feet and length 3600 feet involving a cost of Eight Hundred
Seventy one and 58/100 Dollars ($871.58). The improvement of Vermont Avenue will

consist of regrading and oiling to a depth of 2* inches for a with of 42 feet and
a length of 2900 feet and involving a cost of live Thousand Six Hundred Sixty mix
and 65/100 Dollars ($5,666.65).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange
be and is hereby requested to find that the repair of East Sycamore Street and
Vermont Avenue is in the general County interest in that: East Sycamore Street
is a street of major importance connecting the easterly portion of the city with
the central business district and with the addition of several subdivisions in
that area will become a very heavily travelled street, and that Vermont Avenue is
also a street of major importance and is rapidly becoming a more heavily travelled
street as the growth of the city expands in that direction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the grant of the aid hereby requested is con-

tingent upon the independent finding of the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Orange that the purpose for which aid is hereby sought is in the general County
interest.
BB IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon acceptance by the City of Anaheim of any
grant which may be made by the County of Orange, pursuant to this request, this
Resolution, the Resolution of the Beard of Supervisors of the County of Orange
specifying the terms and conditions of the grant, and any and all laws applicable,
shall constitute the Agreement between the City of Anaheim and the County of Orang
respecting the grant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED, that the City Clerk of the City of Anahe
be, and is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange, State of California.
