RESOLUTION NO. 72R- 257
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 147 WITH
SUGGESTED ALTERNATIVES AS OUTLINED IN THE
BICYCLE STUDY PREPARED BY THE ORANGE COUNTY
CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL DATED MARCH 1972
WHEREAS, bicycles have become an increasing source of
difficulty in incorporated and unincorporated areas of Orange County
as well as in the State of California and legislation has been
introduced in the form of Senate Bill 147 in order to call attention
to this problem; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Criminal Justice Council has
prepared a detailed study on this matter dated March 1972 and
entitled "Orange County Bicycle Study" which suggests changes to
Senate Bill 147; and
WHEREAS, said changes are proposed in order to provide
for the requirements and methods of licensing, licensing revenues,
and requirements of retailers to serialize bicycles and also proposes
that the Department of Justice maintain records relative to stolen
and lost bicycles.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby urge
support of Senate Bill 147 with the modifications suggested by the
Orange County Criminal Justice Council in its study dated March 1972.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to all local representatives.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 20th day of June 1972.
