A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THERE NO
LONGER EXISTS IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM SUCH A
SHORTAGE OF RENTAL HOUSING ACCO =ODATIONB AS TO
RE,UIRE RENT CONTROL IN SAID CITY, AND DETERMINING
THAT RENTS SHOULD BE DECONTROLLED IN THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION
204 (J) (3) OF THE HOUSING AND RENT ACT APPROVED
JUNE 23, 1950.
WHEREAS, citizens and residents of the City of Anaheim
requested the City Council to hold a public hearing to determine
whether or not there exists such a shortage of rental housing
accommodations as to require the continuation of rent control in the
City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did adopt Resolution No. 1761
finding that the public interest and welfare required that such a
public hearing be had and conducted to determine whether or not a
shortage of rental housing accommodations exists in the City of
Anaheim, and directing that a public hearing be had in the City of
Anaheim upon the 8th day of August, 1950, at the hour of 8:00
o'clock P.M. in the City Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in the
City of Anaheim, for the presentation of facts and evidence bearing
upon the availability or non availability of rental housing
accommodations in the City of Anaheim, and for the purpose of de-
termining whether or not rents should be decontrolled in said City
of Anaheim, and notifying all persons interested in said matter to
appear at the time and place fixed to present any facts and evidence
they might have or wish to present to the City Council relative to
the question of whether or not rents should be decontrolled in the
City of Anaheim, that said Resolution directed that ten (10) days
notice of said public hearing be given by the City Clerk of the City
of Anaheim by posting a copy of said Resolution in three (3) public
places in the City of Anaheim, one of which was directed to be
posted in the City Hall, and by causing a copy of said Resolution to
be published once in the Anaheim Bulletin, a newspaper of general

1 circulation, published and circulated in the City of Anaheim at least
ten (10) days before the date of said public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said notice was posted
and published as directed by said Resolution No. 1761, and
WHEREAS, said public hearing was duly had and conducted at
the time and place specified in said Resolution No. 1761, and that a
large number of persons were in attendance. That facts and evidence
were received by the City Council bearing upon the availability or
non availability of rental housing accommodations in the City of
Anaheim, and all persons present were called upon to present any fact
and evidence they had to the City Council relative to said matter.
That all persons interested in said matter were given reasonable
opportunity to be heard, and the right to present any facts or evide
within their possession upon the question of whether or not rents
should be decontrolled in the City of Anaheim. That facts and
evidence were presented to the City Council showing that there is no
such shortage of rental housing accommodations in the City of Anahei
at the present time as to require the continuation of rent control i
said city. That evidence presented discloses that the availability
of rental housing accommodations is equal to, or greater than the
housing accommodations available in April, 1942. That facts and
evidence were presented to the City Council disclosing that vacancie
in housing accommodations are occurring at the present time, and tha
some difficulty has been encountered by the owners in filling said
vacancies, and that no persons appeared at said meeting to oppose th
decontrol of rents.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM doe
hereby find and resolve as follows: That there no longer exists in
the City of Anaheim such a shortage of rental housing accommodations
as to require rent control in said city, and that rents should be
decontrolled in the City of Anaheim, and that the National Housing
xpediter be, and he is hereby requested upon receipt of a certified

copy of this Resolution to make an order decontrolling rents in said
City of Anaheim.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and he is
hereby authorized and directed to transmit to the National Housing
Expediter in Washington, D. C. a certified copy of this Resolution
together with affidavits of posting and publishing notice of the
calling of said public hearing.
The foregoing Resolution is approved and signed by me this
gth day of August, 1950.
