RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM GRANTING TO WILLIAM THOMAS BAKER A
FRANCHISE AND PERMIT TO OPERATE A PUBLIC BUS
LINE AND SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, an application having been received from William
Thomas Baker for a franchise or permit to operate a public bus line
and service within the corporate limits of the City of Anaheim upon
and along the route indicated on the map attached to said apolica-
tion, and requesting permission to make stops upon certain streets
within said city, and
WHEREAS, it appearing to the City Council that the operation
of a bus line or service upon the route specified in said applicat-
ion and in the manner therein indicated is desirable and. would be
for the best intereste of the citizens and residents of the City
of Anaheim;
NOW, THERBFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL CF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM that the said William T. Baker be and he is hereby
granted a franchise for a period of 0 years to operate a public
bus line and service within the corporate limits of the City of
Anaheim upon the terms and conditions hereinafter specified, upon
and along the route indicated upon the map attached to said
application as follows, to-wit:
Commencing at Lemon Street and Center Street, oing west
on Center Street to Cherry Street; South on Cherry Street to
Broadway; East on Broadway to West Street; South on West Street
to Sente. Ana Street; East on 6antaAna Street to Palm Street;
south on Palm Street to 7 :ater Street; East on Water Street to
Lemon Street; North on Lemon Street to Center Street; East on
Center Street to Olive Street; North on Olive Street to La Palma
'Street; West on La Paldia to Palm Street; South on Pal-al Street to
North Street; East on North Street to Lemon Street and South on

BE IT FURTHER R;GLVD that the said William Thomas Baker
be and he is hereby granted bus stops at the follo;4ing places,
to-wit:
On the east siCe of Lemon Street at the intersection of
Lemon and Center Streets;
on the west side of Lemon Street at the intersection of
Lemon and Center Streets;
On the south side of Center Street at the intersection of
Center and Los Angeles Streets;
On the south side of Oenter Street at the intersection of
Center and Claudina Streets.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the franchise and permit is k7raat
upon the extress following terms and conditions:
1. That the bus or busses used under this franchise shall
be new type busses, 25-passen&er capacity, and shall be maintained
in good condition and repair and shall be operated in a safe and
prudent r:ianner; that permission is hereby granted to operate one
or more busses as conditions may warrant and that may be rea,sohably
necessary and justified by the passen,ser traffic.
Power is hereby Eranted to discontinue the bus route over
any portion of the route indicated above when and if it proves
tobe impracticable, unprofitable or not in the interest of public
welfare; but such right to discontinue snail be subject to the
approval of the ait Council of t Sity of Anaheim.
3. The bus or busees used shall conform to every recognized
factor of utility and sefety en6 shall be ainte:Ined in a clean

ment shell at all tiles f.eet with every legal re2uirement ana the
consicleration of the .Tublic health, ssfety and welfare.

be nlaintained in a state of fiscal solvency.

shall be preserved.

10. That the fare charge for trc-nsportation upon said
bus line shall be as follows:
(a) Single fare, iood. from any point, to a destinatio
at any point of trip, short of origin, with continuous
passage 101
(b) Fare tokens, each eouivalent to sinEle fare value,
without expiration for use limit 3 for
(c) Children between the ages of 5 and 12 years, at
one-half adult fare, except no tokens shall be sold. to
children for their own use.
(d) Children under the age of 5 years, if accompanied
by an adult or other person responsible for tie supervision
thereof, shall be carried free of charEe. This clause not
to apply to unrelated groups thereof.
(e) Hand bar:T;ae, oackaces and such other articles
usual to local oaseenrers shall be transported free of

and no responsibility for loss or damaEe thereunto to be
assumed on such account.
(f) Dangerous and objectionable articles and. things,
including live animals other than "seeing eye" dog's when
accompanied by those needful of the use thereof, will not
be carried.
11. The City Council does hereby reserve the riLht to
grant authority to increase or decrease said fares for good. cause,
and it is expressly understood that sid. fares shall not be change

without the approval of the City* Council.
12. That saih bus.iness End. the busses operateC. therein

and that none of the motor coaches shall carry any advertisements
for alcohol or alcoholic beveraLas or for political orop4:anda-
13. That printed schedules shall he made available to all
persons desiring to obtain such schedules.
BE IT FURTTER ROLVED that power and authority is hereby
reserved in the City Council to revoke, cancel and terminate this
franchise at any time for yood cause, provided however, that said
franchise shall not be revoked, without a nering and that a thirty
day notice shall be given to the said 7i11iarn Thomas Baker of any
proposed hearing to consider the revocation or cancellation of
said franchise.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:that this franchise shall not be
transferred without the written consent and approval of the City
Council of the City of inaheim.
