RESOLUTION NO. 160
RESOLUTION REQUESTING SAFETY MEASURES
ON ORANGETHORPE AVENUE.
WHEREAS, Orangethorpe Avenue (being State Highway Route No.
175 eastwardly of Manchester Avenue) is an important highway in
Orange County and is serving an ever increasing volume of traffio;
WHEREAS, numerous accidents, some resulting in fatalities,
have occurred at the intersection of this highway with Manchester
Avenue and at the hazardous railroad crossing and sharp turn south-
ward two and one -half miles east of Atwood; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this City Council that steps
should be taken to correct these dangerous conditions as soon as
possible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Anaheim, that the Department of Public Works of the State of
California be requested to make the intersection of Manchester and
Orangethorpe Avenues a four -way stop until such time as traffic
signals are installed at this point, and to improve conditions where
Orangethorpe Avenue (Placentia -Yorba Boulevard) turns south to the
Santa Ana Canyon Road, by the elimination of the present hazardous
combination of railroad grade crossing, sharp turn and steep grade.
The foregoing Resolution is approved and signed by me this 25th
day of May, 1948.
