As an elder millennia l (ouch!), I feel SO lucky to have g rown up s mack in the middle of the a nalog to di g i tal trans i tion.

g UR Lpag e, and decorating my AIM/AO L profiles in the mos t emo way pos s ible [“inSeR T s AppY qUotE hE Re”].
O kay, ba ck to 2025…
I’m s o g rateful to ha ve this dual pers pective: before a nd a fter The Internet. The Smartphone. Soc i a l Media. I truly a pprec i a te the
benefits of g rowing up in the “rea l world” as well as g rowing up in the “dig ital world”. I feel that I – a s wel l a s my el der millennial
peers – truly did ha ve the bes t of both worlds and tha t we benefited tremendous ly from wha t both ha d to offer.
That s aid, young er millennials , Gen Z a nd now Gen Alpha do not know the world before the i nternet. They ha ve not experi enced the
privileg e of true boredom, true freedom, or g etting full attention from the people around them. T hei r mis takes , thei r FO MO , and thei r
imperfections a re magnified a nd memorialized. Mos t of their wa king hours are s pent on a s creen (75% of wa king hours on averag e and
344 daily phone pickups in 2024 if you’re curious !). And a fter a s olid 15 years of evalua tion, the da ta are now in: thi s new way of life i s
not g ood for them. They a re in the mids t of a menta l hea lth cris is and they are not thriving . The pendulum has s wung too fa r and they
are pa ying the price.
