Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim, CA 92805 DATE/TIME December 8, 2025 4:30 p.m. CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted on December 4, 2025, the regular meeting of the Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Linda Newby at 4:34 p.m. PRESENT: Jackie Filbeck, Linda Newby, Elia Renteria-Garcia, Amanda Wortman ABSENT: Rose Chen STAFF: Audrey Lujan — City Librarian, Jennifer Foxx — Management Assistant II, Jane Newell — Library Services Manager INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends of Anaheim Public Library made a total of $355.09 at their November Sale. Their next sale is on December 19, 2025. In addition to books, they will sell jewelry, puzzles, candles, toys, and more! Other upcoming events include the Friends' budget meeting, holiday get-together, and their next regular meeting on January 26, 2026. On December 131h, they are sponsoring the visit of the NOCE Chime Choir at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Library. Everyone is invited! B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: FOCAL will be having their holiday parry in January. Their next Flash Sale will also be in January. They wish everyone a healthy and happy season! C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: Invitations will be sent out soon for the annual APLF Mystery Authors Luncheon on Sunday, April 19, 2026. This year's theme is "Pages Through Time" and panelists include Catriona McPherson, Gary Phillips, and Nancy Silverman, who all have published historical fiction novels. The panel will be moderated by Adam Sikes. They look forward to seeing the Board at the luncheon. D. COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: Audrey shared notes from students at Sunkist Elementary thanking Mobile Library staff. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 13, 2025, MEETING: The minutes were approved as presented. III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None. Anaheim Public Library Board Meeting December 8, 2025 Page 2 IV. NEW BUSINESS: A. MUZEO UPDATE: Jane Newell announced that Founders' Park is hosting a Victorian Christmas. Staff is searching for a larger facility for next year's Native American Arts Festival to accommodate the larger crowds the festival is drawing. The Carnegie Corporation awarded Anaheim Public Library's Heritage Services a gift of $10,000 to celebrate America's 250th birthday. B. LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING SCHEDULE: MOTION: That the Library Board approve the Library Board of Trustees Meeting Schedule for 2026 as presented. M/S: LN/ER 4 ayes. V. INFORMATION A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: • Thanks to the partnership with AESD to support literacy for students, maximize the use of our APL online resources, and raise reading scores, AESD schools are encouraging parents to walk to APL libraries after school. If the parents show their library card to staff or sign up for a new library card, they are entered into a raffle. • Audrey thanked the Library Board for serving as judges for the Creative Writing Project. The winners were recognized at the AESD and CESD School Board Meetings on November 12, 2025, and at the Anaheim City Council Meeting on November 18, 2025. B. BUDGET: Staff is working on mid -year projections. VI. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. STATISTICS/INFOGRAPHICS/ACTIVITY REPORTS: None. VII. BOARD ITEMS MEMBER ELIA RENTERIA-GARICA: Stopped by the setup of the Native American Arts Festival and was very impressed. Elia shared that Rotary has scholarships available for local teens. MEMBER JACKIE FILBECK: Enjoyed seeing the Creative Writing Project Winners recognized at the Anaheim Elementary School Board Meeting. Jackie suggested Library staff contact AESD staff to utilize the school marquees to advertise library programs during the school break. MEMBER AMANDA WORTMAN: Is impressed by the library's statistics and continuing increase in usage. CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Is discussing a possible floral program opportunity with staff. She is delighted to see that the largest demographic that checks out books from ARTIC are teens. Anaheim Public Library Board Meeting December 8, 2025 Page 3 VIII. MISCELLANEOUS A.
