OLDER ADULTS COMMISSION
November 20, 2025; 2:00 p.m.

AGENDA ACTION TAKEN
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Barnes called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Chair Barnes led the Commission in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Barnes presented the minutes of the September 18, 2025
meeting. Vice -Chair Brio made a motion for approval of the minutes, seconded by Commissioner
Rose. The minutes were approved with all ayes.
4. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
5. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
6. NEW BUSINESS:
a. Schedule of Meetings for 2026 Calendar Year — Chair Barnes asked to have this agenda item to
discuss the 2026 calendar and ensure there aren't conflicts. Brian Chwan confirmed that they
will meet every month in 2026, excluding July and December.
b. Update on Older Adults Services Staffing — Chair Barnes had requested an update on current
staffing for the Older Adults program. Maureen Richardson provided the names and titles of the
staff at each site that provides older adults programs and reviewed some of their recent events
and activities. Commissioner Rose shared that the Senior Citizens' Club received a grant which
they will use to provide lunch one time for the older adults at each program site next year.
7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None.
8. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
a. Brian Chwan invited the Commissioners to a Veterans' Cemetery hearing, hosted by
Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk -Silva, taking place in City Council Chambers tomorrow morning.
Brown Act and Ethics training will take place on Tuesday, December 2nd at 5:00 p.m. Please
RSVP no later than November 28t". In addition, the Boards & Commissions Appreciation Dinner
will be taking place on Thursday, December 11t" at 5:30 p.m.
b. Vice -Chair Brio met with Council Member Meeks recently and she was asking for input about
community centers and senior centers. He shared with her the information that Maureen
Richardson had provided on the programs offered at the sites and she was very impressed. He

encouraged each commissioner to contact their Council Member as well. Chair Barnes added
that she recently traveled to Colorado and was so impressed with their facilities for seniors and
she encouraged everyone to get their wish lists together so that when the funding is available
they are ready.
9. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Barnes adjourned the meeting at 2:27 p.m.
