WHEREAS, due to the flood occurring on March 2 1938, an
urgency exists in the City of Anaheim by reason of the destruction
of the city streets of the City of Anaheim; and that the total
cost to the City of Anaheim for repairing and rebuilding the
streets damaged by said flood will cost approximately One Hundred
Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars; and
WHEREAS Palm Street in the City of Anaheim is a street of
more than local interest and is a street of major importance in
that it is available for traffic destined parallel with the State
Highway No. 101, and the traffic passing over Palm Street relieves
the congestion on said State Highway No. 101, and for said reason
said Palm Street is of state -wide importanoe; and
WHEREAS La Palma Avenue in the City of Anaheim is a street of
major importance and of interest to the State of California; and
WHEREAS sections of said Palm Street and La Palma Avenue in
the City of Anaheim were totally destroyed by said flood and are
now, by reason of said flood, impassable for traffic; and
WHEREAS the cost of rebuilding and repairing said La Palma
Avenue and Palm Street in the City of Anaheim would cost approxi-
mately Forty -five Thousand ($45,000.00) Dollars; and
WHEREAS the City of Anaheim has not sufficient money available
to repair and sake fit for traffic the said streets within the City
of Anaheim including said Palm Street and La Palma Avenue; and
WHEREAS the State Legislature, at its recent special session,
appropriated Five Million ($5,000 Dollars for the relief
of such conditions,
IOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Anaheim that the City of Anaheim petition the Department of
Finance of the State of California for the sum of Forty -five Thou-

sand ($45,000.00) Dollars to be allocated by said department for
the purpose of rebuilding and repairing La Palma Avenue and Palm
Street in the City of Anaheim.
The foregoing Resolution was signed and approved by me this
15th day of March, 1938.
I, Charles E. Griffith, City Clerk of the City of Anaheim,
hereby certify that the above resolution was duly and regularly
introduced at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Anaheim held on the 15th day of March, 1938, and adopted by
the following vote:
