05/24/1932-01149 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, motor vehicles are now subject to general property taxes for local purposes, and WHEREAS, in addition, motor vehicles are subject to registration fees and gasoline taxes imposed by the Legislature for the specific purpose of construction, maintenance and repair of highways, and WHEREAS, proposal has been made for diversion of a part of such special motor vehicle revenues into the general fund of the State, particularly for the purpose of paying the principal and interest upon outstanding State highway bonds, and WHEREAS, any such diversion of special motor vehicle revenues has not been sanctioned by the Legislature or the people of this State and is not to the best interests of the people of this State; and WHEREAS, various proposals have been made for additional taxes on motor vehicles which would appear unjust and unnecessary; Now, Therefore, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the that it will oppose any increase in the gasoline tax, motor vehicle qicense fees or o er forms of motor vehicle taxes and will further oppose the use of motor vehicle revenues to pay the principal or interest upon State highway bonds and will oppose the use of special motor vehicle revenues for any purpose or purposes other than those now speci- fied by law, and IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the C �4 is opposed to Senate Constitutional Amendment No. 22, which will Vppear on the November ballot, which seeks to divert the State's share of the franchise taxes collected from busses and trucks to the general fund which would deplete the highway fund in an amount of approximately Four Hundred Eighty Thousand Dollars a year.
