Pleas e Council Member, I am writing to you as a res ident of to as k you to pleas e vote "No" on the proposed apartments at the Anaheim Hills Fes tival Center. I lived s ince the fire in 2008 and experienced the fire that s uddenly jumped the freeway from Corona and took down the apartments right by my s treet burning a tree down directly behind my hous e, and s ome hous es up the hill by the water tower. People los t everything. I never thought the fire could reach my hous e but thos e Santa Ana winds are horrible when they kick up—when not if. The core city of Anaheim s hould not try to continue to earn money off of the Anaheim Hills area the way that they do. In the end it’s all about the money I realize but we cannot handle any more people here. During the Canyon Fire 2 in 2017 I had to evacuate and stay at friends ’s home. My s on’s truck was s tuck on Santa Ana Canyon for over two hours going 3 miles with dogs and things in the car and if the fire was s weeping through, he would’ve been hurt along with thous ands of others who were jammed along the Freeway. Als o, how could any firefighters even maneuver becaus e there is a fire s tation right there? Even police cars couldn’t get in and out of the anaheim hills police s tation. Unfortunately, no one knew the 91 freeway would be s uch a horrendous trip headed toward the inland empire on a daily bas is people funneling cons tantly through our part of town. My own s treet has turned into a mini freeway in which it is backed up often. During the s tate of a big emergency, we would have major problems out in this area. And I know I’m not s peaking for this tiny area of Anaheim Hills but also the Yorba Linda side of the 91 freeway down into the back into Orange. I know you’re getting a lot of copy and pas te letters , but pleas e pay attention because it’s not a game. It’s not jus t oh let’s build s ome nice new hous es or s ome little apartments where people could live. There are plenty of other towns . Please do not let greed for be the guide. Sincerely, Dana Cody Hinkle (
