Dear Planning Commissioners,
My name is Karissa Walker, and I live in the home that holds the easement for a portion of the road leading to Canyon Acres. I am writing to
respectfully urge you to deny the proposed Renaissance Canyon Acres development located at 233 S. Quintana Drive, Anaheim, CA 92807
(DEV2025-00027).
This project would directly and significantly impact my family. Because my property includes part of the easement access to Canyon Acres, any
increase in traffic will flow directly past my home and driveway. I have already nearly been hit twice by vehicles traveling to Canyon Acres. Both
incidents occurred as I was coming down my driveway and cars quickly turned onto the street, almost colliding with me. This is happening before
the project is even built.
There is already a steady amount of traffic on Canyon Acres Road as it is, including trash trucks, delivery drivers, and current workers - and the
development has not even opened. Adding 25 new homes would drastically increase traffic on what is a very small, constrained road. It would also
significantly increase congestion on Quintana Drive after the stop sign, which is an extremely narrow street.
In addition, it is already extremely dangerous for residents on Quintana Drive to turn left onto Santa Ana Canyon Road. The traffic flow makes it
very difficult to safely merge, and I am honestly shocked there are not more accidents at that intersection as it is. Adding more residents to this area
would only increase the number of vehicles attempting that same risky left turn, compounding an already unsafe situation.
While the developers claim the road meets regulatory width requirements, the real-world conditions tell a different story. There is simply no way a
fire truck could safely travel up one side of Quintana Drive while a passenger vehicle fits on the other. In an emergency, that lack of
maneuverability could have serious consequences.
My family moved into this home less than a year ago specifically to get away from high-traffic, densely populated areas. While I understand that
development is sometimes necessary and property owners have rights, this particular location is not appropriate for the level of density being
proposed. The surrounding neighborhood consists of single-family homes on quiet streets that were never designed to handle this volume of traffic.
Beyond the daily inconvenience, there are serious safety concerns. Particularly regarding wildfire evacuation. Quintana Drive functions as a narrow
corridor with limited exit options. Increasing density before addressing traffic flow and emergency access puts existing residents at risk.
I respectfully ask that you prioritize the safety of current residents, the physical limitations of the roadway, and the character of the neighborhood
by disapproving of the Renaissance Canyon Acres project.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
