Broadway Anaheim, CA 92805 DATE/TIME January 12, 2026 4:30 p.m. CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted on January 8, 2026, the regular meeting of the Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Linda Newby at 4:30 p.m. PRESENT: Rose Chen, Jackie Filbeck, Linda Newby, Elia Renteria-Garcia, Amanda Wortman STAFF: Audrey Lujan — City Librarian, Ymelda Ventura — Senior Secretary GUEST: Susan Burrows I. INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends sponsored the Chime Choir from the North Orange County Community College District. They also helped with the publicity and provided refreshments for the program. The Friends thanked Jennifer Foxx for helping to balance their budget. The December book sale made over $422.00. The Friends enjoyed their holiday party. B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: FOCAL will be having their holiday party on January 24, 2026. Their next Flash Sale will be on January 9-10, 2026. C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: Invitations will be sent out at the end of January for the annual APLF Mystery Authors Luncheon on Sunday, April 19, 2026. This year's theme is "Pages Through Time," and panelists include Catriona McPherson, Gary Phillips, and Nancy Silverman, who have all published historical fiction novels. The panel will be moderated by Adam Sikes. Ticket sales will be online this year through SilentAuctionPro.com. D. COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: Susan Burrows shared her concerns regarding a patron at the Haskett Branch Library. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 8, 2025, MEETING: The minutes were approved as presented. III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None. IV. NEW BUSINESS: A. FIVE-YEAR REVIEW OF APT, STEAM KITS: Postponed to the February meeting. Anaheim Public Library Board Meeting January 12. 2026 Page 2 V. INFORMATION A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: • Thanks to the partnership with AESD to support literacy for students, maximize the use of our APT, online resources, and raise reading scores, AESD marquees featured Anaheim Public Library during the holiday break. Library staff will be meeting with AESD staff to evaluate the best way to measure the success of the partnership. • Audrey shared that APT, has created a regional model for Central that will include Sunkist. The Library has already been using regional models for West Anaheim and East Anaheim. • APT, is the only Library in the area that had 4% increase in patrons through the door this year compared to last year. B. BUDGET: Staff is working on mid -year projections. VI. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. STATISTIC SANFOGRAPHIC S/ACTIVITY REPORTS: None. VII. BOARD ITEMS MEMBER JACKIE FILBECK: Is committed to furthering the mission of the partnership with AESD. She is glad to see the Library is using a regional model. MEMBER AMANDA WORTMAN: The selection for the Poet Laureate is January 13, 2026. She enjoyed seeing the variety of holiday programming highlighted in the board packet. MEMBER ELIA RENTERIA-GARICA: Is impressed by the different programs highlighted in the board packet. She attended the Muzeo exhibit opening on Saturday and was impressed with the staff. MEMBER ROSE CHEN: Enjoys seeing the variety of programming at Haskett Branch Library. Her family and friends have started attending more of these programs and informing her of how wonderful they are. CHAIR LINDA NEWBY: Appreciates how Central Library staff take pride in the appearance of the Library and how they are proactive in keeping the area clean. VIII, MISCELLANEOUS A. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be February 9, 2026, at the Central Library. B. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Newby adjourned the meeting at 5:25 p.m.
