Dear Council Member,
My name is Dung Nguyen. I chose to move to Anaheim Hills because of its beauty and strong sense of community. However, I am deeply
concerned about the proposed Shea/Festival Center apartment project. Since relocating here, I have learned that our neighborhood is designated
as a high-risk fire zone with very limited evacuation routes. It is alarming to hear that evacuation during a major emergency can already take several
hours. Adding more than 1,000 additional residents and their vehicles to our streets raises serious safety concerns.
The project’s environmental report acknowledges that evacuation times would increase with this development. As a parent, I cannot help but think
about the difficulty of getting my family to safety during a fast-moving wildfire. If our current infrastructure is already strained, introducing hundreds
of additional cars could significantly worsen an already dangerous situation. Planning for growth should not come at the expense of emergency
preparedness.
I support thoughtful housing development, but it must be placed in locations that can safely accommodate it. Building high-density housing in a
known evacuation bottleneck within a fire-prone area does not seem prudent. I respectfully urge you to prioritize public safety and vote “No” on
this project until meaningful evacuation improvements are in place.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dung Nguyen, DPM
