Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and are expecting the message. Dear Council Member, I am writing to you as a 26 year resident of Anaheim Hills to ask you to please vote "NO" on the proposed apartments at the Anaheim Hills Festival Center. I lived here during the Canyon Fire 2 in 2017, and I will never forget the feeling of absolute terror at my home, watching the smoke get closer, all the cars in the neighborhood backed into their driveways and people quickly packing their belongings in their cars. Everyone was hosing down their bushes and roofs due to the embers. We were two streets away from evacuation. T he problem I live near San Antonio Church, technically at the "bottom" of the hills. All lanes of traffic, on BOTH sides of the streets on Santa Ana Canyon and Khol Ranch were going westbound with residents above us trying to deperately escape. The cars were at a total standstill. This terrified me and my neighbors. There was NO way to get out! This was an absolute nightmare. T he thought of adding hundreds of new apartments and about 1000+ more cars to that exact same escape route is terrifying to those of us who have actually lived through it. The reports for this project say that adding these cars will "only" add about 7 minutes to the evacuation time. But when you're already stuck and the fire is moving toward you, 7 minutes is a lifetime. We don't have extra roads or "secret" ways out of the Hills; and I am at the bottom! we all end up on the same few lanes. Adding more people to a neighborhood that is already a bottleneck during a fire just feels like an absolute tragedy destined to happen. I understand that the city needs housing, but it shouldn't be built in a place where people are already struggling to get out safely. Please don't make an existing danger even worse just for a new development. We are asking you to prioritize the lives and safety of the people who already live here and pay taxes here. T he fire department and police department already stated that the " deer canyon project" not too far from this one, was deemed a severe safety hazard and was denied. Nothing changes the fact that that more people and more cars, will put more peoples lives at stake. Its not worth the risk. Sincerely Kimberly and Richard Job 26 y ear Anaheim Hills residents South Solomon Drive, AH
