Dear Council Members,
P lease do NOT approve of this plan to develop apartments in the Festival Shopping Center. T he traffic is already
substantial and during fire evacuations it takes over an hour to get out of the area. I personally was delayed during an
evacuation stalled in traffic with fire in the center divider right next to my car and smoke very thick—that was at the
corner of Santa Ana Canyon and Weir, very near where this condo complex is being considered. Since that time, which I
believe was 2017, normal traffic has increased, and indicates evacuation traffic would be worse.
If the Santa Ana winds are blowing, we must be out immediately or we risk death. I leave at the first sign of smoke, long
before evacuation orders are given. I also would not want to be limited to only certain routes, as there really aren’t many
options in how to leave. Know your way would place me in a dangerous route, and a three hour evacuation is NOT
acceptable.
