Subject:[EXTERNAL] Concerns about the Festival Center Project and Wildfire Safe ty

To whomsoever it may concern,
I moved to Anaheim Hills, a beautiful and family-oriented community, only to be horrified
by the reckless proposal of the Shea/Festival Center apartment project. This neighborhood
is a ticking time bomb, situated in a high-risk fire zone with alarmingly limited escape
routes. The fact that it already takes over three hours to evacuate during an emergency is
utterly unacceptable. Adding over 1,000 more people and their cars to our already
congested streets is a blatant disregard for the safety of every resident.
The project’s environmental report shamelessly admits that these new apartments will
exacerbate evacuation times, putting lives at grave risk. The thought of a fire breaking out
while I’m desperately trying to save my family is terrifying. With roads already on the brink
of failure, cramming in hundreds of more cars will transform a dire situation into a
catastrophic one. It is appalling that the city seems to be gambling with our lives, hoping for
the best instead of preparing for the worst.
I am not opposed to new housing in principle, but it must be constructed in locations that
do not endanger lives. P lacing high-density housing at a notorious bottleneck in a fire zone
is not just irresponsible—it’s criminal negligence. I demand that you prioritize our safety
and vote NO on this project immediately until a viable evacuation plan is in place for the
Hills.
Sincerely,
A deeply concerned citizen
Shivam Soni.
