Do not click links or open attachments unles s you recognize the s ender and are expecting the mes s age. Honorable Mayor and City Council, I am writing to you as a concerned res ident of Anaheim to politely as k that you PLEASE vote "No" on the propos ed apartment project at the Anaheim Hills Fes tival Center. As a res ident of Anaheim and a retired Anaheim Fire and Res cue Captain/Paramedic, I am fully aware of the s afety is s ues that the res idents of the Anaheim Hills area face during extreme, uncontrolled, wind driven fires . I have been there and done that both as an active duty firefighter and as a res ident multiple times . Safety is everyone’s res pons ibility, es pecially thos e who have been elected to s erve the citizens of this city. With that, every other city employee s hares in that res pons ibility, not jus t fire and police department employees . What’s it going to take for thos e in city government who may be backing the proposed Fes tival project to realize that adding approximately 1000 more vehicles to the area is a des ign for dis as ter. No evacuation plan can take the place of what s hould have been learned from past incidents and good old common s ens e. Es pecially a plan that has been s o poorly advertis ed. I have heard it s aid that the city will benefit from the perks the developer has offered. No amount of money would be enough to offs et the dangers that this project would caus e. The propos ed ins tallation of the Opticom devices would als o be a waste of time, effort and money. What would happen to thos e devices when the area loos es electrical power? What good would a traffic s ignal control device be when the inters ections and streets leading to them are completely gridlocked? In light of what has been highlighted here and s o much more, I res pectfully implore you to deny the project at its propos ed location. If you have read this far, I thank you. Sincerely, Jeff Shimkus 714-742-1115
