Dear Council Member,
This is my own letter! Pleas e read it…I am writing to you as a res ident of Anaheim to ask you to pleas e vote "No" on the propos ed apartments at the Anaheim Hills
Fes tival Center. I lived through both the big fires of 08 and 2017. I am right up at Weir Canyon near the 91 freeway. I live in a s mall community in Bel Air. I’ve been
here 20 years and I’ve s een the changes . I live in a practical wind tunnel and s o an 08. I watched the smoke jump the freeway within 15 minutes to get from Corona to
my backyard. My friend apartment burned down to the ground a block and a half from my hous e. I was able to grab my animals throw in a few things in my purs e and
being on a main s treet in Bel-Air. I never thought flames would come, but they literally burned the tree out behind my home. It was a miracle that we even es caped
es caped any fire on my neighborhood. However, the hous es up the hill on MorningStar Street weren’t s o lucky. This was a s hock for the community and then it
happened again in 2017…
here during the Canyon Fire 2 in 2017, my my college s on was home. He had a truck. In 2008 I was able to get out of the area before the police came s houting and
knocking at all of our doors to get out. In 2017 I was home with my s on and I told him I will take the animal and go down to your grandparents on the other s ide of
anaheim hills . He was loading up his truck with his beloved deceas ed father‘s things and his dog. He did not leave for another 45 minutes and he was s tuck on Santa
Ana Canyon heading toward imperial Highway for over 2 1/2 hours jus t moving 3 miles . Had the wind pus hed the flames in that direction. It could’ve been a
catas trophe. It is only becaus e of the wind s hift that the fire didn’t come this way and jump the hous e this time. Homes were s till burned. I worked at a local s tore over
here and met s ome of the cus tomers . It’s very difficult to los e your home and your life. Thankfully, we didn’t los e lives , but this is ridiculous . We do not need people
living up here extra… Maybe take that land and build five big homes where you can s till get your tax dollars but do not build a community of many apartments pleas e
pleas e pleas e pleas e.
Als o, I’m on a little s treet called Larkwood. We now have painted double yellow lines down my street becaus e people us e it as a way to get home from Orange
County to Corona on a regular bas is . We have our own problem in the city has had to approve us to try to put the s peed bumps which s till has n’t really s topped the
flow of traffic. I would like to addres s that s till… That is very uns afe where we can’t even go to a grocery s tore with without dealing with a cons tant flow of traffic
during rus h-hour, es pecially when there is an accident on the 91 let alone a fire down that direction eas t getting out of my home readily on s ome days . It is not good
and I really believe it hurts the value of our property out here as well.
Pleas e vote agains t this . Pleas e dear God don’t make this into a fire freak s how in the future. Remember, it’s the wind. It’s the wind. It’s the wind that funnels through
up here.
I know that people love money more than people. Scripture even s ays you can’t love God and money. When you love God, you love your neighbor when you love
money you love yours elf. Thank you for choos ing people… At leas t that’s my hope that there’s somebody in the city council that will choos e people over money.
