Dear Counc il Member,
I am writ ing t o you as a resident of Anaheim t o ask you t o please vot e "NO" on t he proposed apart ment s at t he Anaheim Hills
Fest ival Cent er. I lived here during t he Canyon Fire 2 in 2017, and I c an never erase t he feeling of being t errified, being st randed,
not knowing what was going on, where t he danger was really, fearing for my safet y, and my family’s safet y inc luding our pet s whic h
are c omplet ely dependent on us for any kind of help.
I underst and t he people t hat t ried t o evac uat e in t heir c ars were lit erally st uc k for hours at a t ot al st andst ill. Adding ANY T HING t o
t his t error is T ERROR. How c ould anyone c onsc ienc ely add t o t he t error, t o an already obvious, dangerous sit uat ion.
T he report s for t his projec t say t hat adding t hese c ars will "only add” about 7 minut es t o t he evac uat ion t ime. T hat sent enc e on it s
own is T ERROR. T he evac uat ion t ime should not be inc reased. It should not be a selling or negot iat ing point . It should be an
improv ement point . T here are limit ed ways in and out of t he Hills and t hat alone should be t he reminder t hat “adding t o” is
inc reasing t he risk of harm, or deat h.
Communit ies grow and even demand new housing. It should NOT be done wit h derelic t disregard for t he exist ing members t hat made
it t he c ommunit y it is.
