To Mayor and City Council Members, My name is Jyoti Gaur and I have been a resident of Anaheim Hills for ten years. As an active parent of three children and a deeply invested member of this community, I am writing to express my strong opposi ti on to the proposal to rezone the Festi val Center to allow for the construction of up to 450 new residential units. I currently live on the east side of Anaheim Hills, so I will not be directly impacted by the i mmedi ate constructi on or traffic from this development. My opposition is not born out of inconvenience, but out of a deep concern for the safety and sustainabili ty of our community as a whole. Growing up in Corona, I possess a firsthand understanding of the daily nightmare that is traffic on the 91 freeway. It i s difficult to comprehend why the City would consider adding density to an area that is already paralyzed by traffic congesti on. Nothing has changed regarding the local infrastructure to support such a significant increase in residents and vehicles. More critically, this is a High Fire Severity Zone. The safety concerns that applied to the D eer Canyon project are equally relevant here. We are dealing with an area that has limited evacuation routes. Adding 450 households to an already constrained evacuation corridor is not just unwise; it is dangerous. In the event of a wildfire, seconds matter. Increasi ng the population density in this specific location will inevitably increase evacuation times, putting existing residents and new tenants alike at ri sk. I urge the Council to reject the necessary zoning changes for this project. The prudent path forward is to focus housi ng developments in areas that: Are not located in high fire risk zones. Are not already severely impacted by freeway traffic. Possess the infrastructure and public transportation options to support increased density. Please prioritize the safety and livability of Anaheim Hills over increased density in a hazardous area. Respectfully, Jyoti Gaur Anaheim Hills Resident
