Dear Council Member, I am writing to you as a res ident of Anaheim to as k you to pleas e vote "No" on the propos ed apartments at the Anaheim Hills Fes tival Center. I lived here during the Canyon Fire 2 in 2017, and I will never forget the feeling of being s tuck in my car, watching the s moke get clos er, and literally not moving for over an hour. It was n't jus t "traffic"—it was a total s tands till. The thought of adding hundreds of new apartments and about 1000+ more people to that exact s ame es cape route is terrifying to thos e of us who have actually been in that s ituation. The reports for this project s ay that adding thes e cars will "only" add about 7 minutes to the evacuation time. But when you're already s tuck for three hours and the fire is moving toward you, 7 minutes is a lifetime. We don't have extra roads or "s ecret" ways out of the Hills ; we all end up on the s ame few lanes . Adding more people to a neighborhood that is already a bottleneck during a fire jus t feels like a tragedy waiting to happen. I unders tand that the city needs hous ing, but it s houldn't be built in a place where people are already struggling to get out s afely. Pleas e don't make an exis ting danger even wors e jus t for a new development. We are as king you to prioritize the lives and s afety of the people who already live here and pay taxes here. Dear Council Member, I am writing to as k you to vote "No" on the Anaheim Hills Fes tival Center apartment project. You don't need to be a traffic expert to s ee that Santa Ana Canyon Road is already at its limit. Mos t days , jus t getting to the s tore or work is a challenge. The idea that we can add over 400 apartments and about 1300 people to this area without creating a dis as ter during a wildfire evacuation jus t does n't pas s the "common sens e" test. The city's own reports admit that it already takes res idents over three hours to get out during a fire. To then s ay that adding another 7 minutes of delay is "not a big deal" is incredibly frus trating to thos e of us who live here. If a bucket is already overflowing, you don't keep pouring more water into it and s ay it's fine. By approving this , the city is bas ically admitting the evacuation plan is broken but choosing to make it even more crowded anyway. We need our leaders to look at the reality of our s treets , not jus t the numbers on a developer's spreadsheet. Pleas e do the res pons ible thing and protect the res idents who are already here. We need better ways to get out of the Hills , not more people trapped in them. Pleas e vote "No" on this project. Sincerely, Larry Wolff Sent from
