Do not click links or open attachme nts unle ss you recognize the sender and are expecting the message. Dear Members of the City Council, I am writing as a lifelong resident of Anaheim Hills to formally and strongly oppose the proposed 447-unit development at the Anaheim Hills Festival center. I was born in Yorba Linda and have lived in Anaheim Hills since I was 15 years old. Over the past 20 years we have been evacuated six times due to wildfire threats, 5 homes in my current neighborhood were burnt down in the Canyon 2 fire in 2017. I can speak firsthand about how chaotic and frightening those evacuations were, with complete gridlock and significant delays that placed residents at major risk. Adding a development of this size would only intensify these dangers. Santa Ana Canyon Road is already severely congested. It is heavily used as a pass-through route for Inland Empire commuters attempting to avoid traffic on the 91 Freeway, even though they ultimately merge at Weir Canyon Road or Gypsum Canyon Road. There are many days when it takes up to 30 minutes to travel a single mile. Introducing hundreds of additional residential units and potentially over a thousand more vehicles, into this corridor would significantly worsen traffic conditions and, more importantly, compromise emergency evacuation routes!! Public safety must be the priority. While thoughtfully planned single-family housing may be appropriate in certain areas, a high-density development of this magnitude is not suitable for a community that already faces repeated wildfire threats and a strained infrastructure. I urge you to carefully consider the safety and well-being of the families who already live here. Please do the responsible thing for our community and vote NO on this project.
